This is what happens when I get pissed off

I'm going to try the legal way to take care of a problem.

Everyone in my apartment complex received a letter from our landlord.

Back up a second.

Every year we receive a dividend from the state, and this year Palin added $1200 to help offset the rising price of fuel, since we are paying the highest in the country.

Fast forward to the letter. The letter we all received said that the landlords, since they pay for water and heating, basically order us to give them half of the energy relief, or we get a 60 day eviction.

They are trying to force money from me that they are not legally allowed to ask for, and they are contractually bound to pay water and heat. They are the ones that wrote the contract stating they must pay heating and water. I'm going to give them a copy of the Alaska Tenant Act and underline where they went wrong.

My family used to own and manage more apartments than this company will ever see, and they wrote lease contracts all the damn time. In addition, I've gone to a local millionaire whom made his money by owning apartment and other complexes all across the country and asked his opinion about this. He's the shrewdest business man I've met and he says it's illegal. It's blatantly obvious.

This is the story in a nutshell. I received the letter yesterday, as did everyone else in the block. So far everyone we've talked to is against the idea, since not only is this wrong, both morally and legally, but also these apartments are overpriced, under quality, and don't offer a damn thing we can't get elsewhere for cheaper.

They were sold to these new owners, Sempire, about a year and a half ago.

There is no legal way that they can ask for this money, and we are under no obligation to pay them in any way, since they both wrote and signed a contract stating they would cover such utilities.

So far, in 24 hours, we have Alaska Housing (assisted living, basically), the Kenaitze Native Corp. (members of the tribe are shareholders, and native corps. fight for their shareholders brutally...don't tango with their lawyers), and one of the tenants is a veteran and is handicapped.

We are getting local news involved, and Senator Wagner talked to my neighbor personally about it. A letter will be going in the paper about this so everybody on the peninsula will know to stay away from these apartments.

If this doesn't get them to drop their alleged 'request', we're going to follow up with a Class-Action Lawsuit.

All this, in 24 hours. Welcome to hell, Sempire. I love my landlords, they have been very good to me in the past, yet this is so blatantly crossing the line I won't back down until I have a letter of apology or their business is in the hole.

Bad time to try to extort money from me, I'm planning a vacation later this month, so I'm pissed about this. They are pulling this stunt when everybody in the apartment complex is receiving $3000+ at the same time.

Bad, stupid, thick-headed move, Sempire, and I'm sorry, but unless they back down,NOW, I'm going to have to crush them.

There we go, this is a nice story. Where I live, a mobile home park not your average ghetto run down. Every mobile in here is brand new, and are all about 1700 sq ft. So it's kind of a nice place to live, within the past three years we have had different managers come in and out of the park.

Now the new manager, have fixed street signs which are uglier than when they were broken by the dumbass who ran them over. They installed a camera at our back gate, now they are demanding a $60 increase in rent. Now, you may think oh hell that isn't alot just give them what they want. But, the part is that there is 700 mobile homes in here, what costs so damn much that they need $42K. Well, upon further investigation they had is stated that their maintenance to the park made the value of the park rise. We had better shit in here before they were here, we had a committie meeting and had almost 94% of the park sign a petition and send it to the mayor which happens to come to the park barbecues.

We fixed those fuckers once and for all.

:yeahthat:

This is a nice example, when you should sue. Because if you just fuck with them, it will end up them suing you and somehow winning.

Here's a 60-second update for everyone:

Reporter is talking to the landlord, and the landlord lied about it. Neighbor has email evidence I'm going to look at. Supposed to be good.

Reporter coming down around 9 am tomorrow (12 hours) to do a piece on this. Reporter's intrigued since we faxed her our letters and they don't match up with what landlady's saying.

Landlady's been knocking on doors, telling everyone they were requesting 'donations' and money isn't required. Heh.

Owned.

EDIT: Further update: According to an email I read from a Ch.2 Reporter, our Landlady said she's pulled the letter and is not going to try to enforce it in any way.

I'm still going to move out unless I have paper evidence that she apologizes and retracts her letter. Hell, I still may anyway, since if she doesn't give me physical evidence than I have paper stating I have 60 days, and that she is technically breaking my contract.

Glad to hear your plan is falling through, however you already knew it would. I bet she regrets fucking with these tenants.

It's either going to end with an apology letter in my hand, or a notice that Sempire is filing for bankruptcy.

They get to choose which.

EDIT: Fucking right! I called her, and though she won't give any paper evidence stating her position, she claims she was really requesting money, and nobody is required to pay, and that she is dropping the whole thing for everybody.

That's right. I fucking won. End of story.

I just got a letter from stating that there is no issue, and they will not accept any money and will back down.

God damn right.
