This is gonna suck...

rofl... Boycott, you realize you said pubic transport?

Anyway, yeah. Get a new mode of transportation (one that ISN'T an SUV, van, or truck). Or, stop traveling so much. To be spending that much, it sounds like you drive a lot.

I think I may spend, on average, $37 a month for gas.

yeah, I know I i said pubic ;) I was too lazy to fix my spelling mistake so I left it there for comedic value

As for gas : If you drive a big SUV and drive it a lot then you can't complain on how much you're paying for gas ;)

Today (Spet. 1) is "Stick it up their ass" day. Nobody in the US or Canada should buy even a drop of gass today. It's going to cost them so much money. (I got this in an e-mail from my grandma.)

Uhh, I can bike the span of 3 towns before I even start feeling tired... And even then I just take a 5 minute rest and bike for a while more ... Its their own fault that their car costs so much to drive... Just make a deal with someone to drive you places (if they need to go too) and you'll pay for half of gas

a friend of mine coverted his car's engine to run on chip fat  finally something good about fast food.
the car still stinks as much as a diesel.

if you're really concerned about how much gas costs AND you drive a lot, read this!
i got this out of an article called "saving money on gas for dumbasses 101"

1) Sell your car and switch to hybrid. this can be compared to ditching windows and switching to apple. (right now, buying a new car is not an option for almost any poor person, including myself) so...

2) Drive with the windows UP and the A\C on low. Tests show that drag increases when windows are open, wasting more gas than just keeping the AC on low.

3) Change your fuel filter. Using an old, dirty one makes the engine work harder to get the gas in through the fuel injectors.. leading to using

4) use those fuel injector enhancers that you pour into your gas tank. they end up saving you in the long run

5) air pumps at gas station exist for a purpose. running on low tires totally screws you over.

6) got shit in your trunk? shit in the back? shit everywhere in your car? take the shit out. extra weight uses extra gas, and all that shit accumulates after a while.

7) utilize cruise control! not only does it keep you from pissing off other people by speeding up, slowing down, speeding up, etc., but it also keeps the engine at one speed, lessening the need for higher RPMs

8) see a hot girl/hot guy next to your car? lets show off by wasting half a tank and speeding out of the stop light. not only are YOU disadvantage.. but what if that person wanted your number or something? (unrealistic, but think about it next time you floor it)

9) back to engine maintanence. owning a carwash with an oil change department, i see a lot of people who haven't gotten an oil change in over a year. changing your oil every 3000 miles is like.. the least you can do. use the lightest grade fuel possible. your car manual will say if it can not use 5w30 (good light oil). thick oil shouldn't be used unless required, because it makes the engine push harder... obviously

10) and change your transmission PLEASE. at least go have it checked. if the transmission fluid is red, great.. if it has any black in it, change it.

my P.O.S dodge durango, currently rated at approx. 12-13 mpg average, gets 15 b\c i keep it up. i'm sure i'm pretty close to spending more on my engine every few months than it costs just to fill it up, but at $40/tank every 1.5-2 weeks, it's really not a bad deal.
