If you are of punjabi or any hindi, or any Indian culture, would you take it offensive if someone outside your race and culutre wanted to be like you? Or dress like you? I just want to know because I am an African American and I love Indian culture, especially Punjabi, it's my favorite :)...I am currently learning how to speak hindi at the moment..yay. But anyway, I just want to make sure I dont over step my boundaries when I try to convert into a different culture...Please give me some feed back. Thank you! :)

Hey I am an Indian and I am a Punjabi.

You will not have any problem if you want to turn into punjabi or hindu.
Both these culture are open to accept people from any culture around the world.

I would appreciate the fact that you started to learn Hindi because many Punjabis are living in Delhi and they are more likely to speak Hindi than punjabi language.

Moreover learning punjabi does not become any more difficult if you are fluent in speaking Hindi.

So if you are really serious to convert to a Hindu or Punjabi, just marry some Indian guy.
And an advice do not start your quest to find an Indian guy from India becase India has a very diverse kind of landscape and thus there are people of all kind of looks and builts.
I mean there are some species of white, black, brown, kind of chinese types of indians living all together.
So they might ignore you !

My personal thought is that slim african american women look awesome in saree ! : )

Enjoy !

Please don't.

You can admire and respect a different culture without abandoning your own. It only makes you look like a self-hating wannabe. Besides, you'd never really be accepted if you tried to 'become' a member of another culture.
