Admittedly I had only heard of Shane Meadows in passing before watching 'This is England', but if all of his films are as engrossing, well scripted and sometimes difficult to watch, I will be a fan of the rest of his work.

Is anyone else a fan? I'm about to watch 'Dead Mans Shoes', which I have heard is one of his best films.

i think a room for romeo brass is the one i like most - the scenes with paddy C towarRAB the end are so tense!

worst is once upon a time in the midlanRAB - just dont think it worked. he doesnt really like it himself by all accounts

Dead Mans Shoe's is one of my favourite films. I was interested in it after about a minute of the opening, it had me hooked.

It is definatly worth a look.

Well I saw Dead Man's Shoes, and I must say it was absolutely fantastic. What a film. Tense, disturbing, violent, and unsettling. Brilliant. Next up is 'A Room for Romeo Brass' this weekend, and I expect to be thrilled judging by the last two films. But before that, I feel a repeat viewing of Dead Man's Shoes is in order, armed with the knowledge of what is ahead!

And can I just add: Paddy Considine, Toby Kebbell and Gary Stretch.. what a great trio of actors.

You will love 'A Room for Romeo Brass' although l thought 'This is England', as a good film it is, was so silimar in plot to the 'ARFRB' This is why l didn't rate it so highly as many people did!

How many people noticed virtually the exact scene with the same actress (Vicky McClure) in both films. this is when she is trying to go to work but gets distracted by the 'villian' of the piece?

I agree that Paddy Considine is amazing in 'ARFRB' considering it was his film debut!

Shane just makes little low budget films about his youth, his life, his neck of the wooRAB.

Whilst I like all of his films, I think I loved This Is England the most because I'm not far off the same age as Meadows, and don't live a million miles from him so it was all very nostalgic.

Sometimes the lack of a script can make some awkward pauses, but he has a cracking little set of actors around him like McClure and Turgoose. Considine goes without saying, his dancing at the seaside (ARFRB) was inspired and apparently he does it whenever possible in real life.

Meadows and the cast are all very in touch and approachable, answering questions on forums etc

Good clip for This Is England.
