Completely agree with this.

Way too many loose enRAB. I'm hoping they bring it back for another series... or even another film.

I enjoyed it but too much stuff was left un answered.
 
Just finished watching it. Thought it was very good as I watched the film the other night to refresh my memory. I also wondered why the guy with the mohikan was suddenly a member of the gang..having watched the film the other night I remember that he was bullying shaun at school...if I remember rightly, his name was harvey..?
 
The actors improvise in some scenes yeah? the actress who plays Lol is not great at improv..the scene with Woody where she is complaining that the parrot is eating the lamp is a bit awkward on her part

and of course the scene with Mick where he tries to rape Lol is also a bit awkward at the start, Lol just keeps repeating everything Mick says..again the actress struggles with coming up with her own lines, she didn't seem able to think on her feet and you can tell those scenes were not entirely scripted which is not always a good thing

Woody and Mick (sorry don't know the actors real names) seem to be more natural at improvising but then they both seem to be better actors, and the other actor who is crap at improv is the fat guy who was with Trudy!

sorry just that bugs me when you can tell they are not reading from the script and it's kinda cringy to watch
 
Going by the posts on here, improv is Shane Meadows 'thing', I don't know, I'm not into the backstory.
Then again improv is also Mike Leigh's thing but he irons all that out in rehearsal and it's all scripted once the camera rolls.
The thing is, letting it be known a proportion is improvised people think they 'can see the joins'

My problem with the hammer was it looking fake especially when been handled, could see it had no weight.
The Hammer's arrival was clear, your memory is letting you down.
She brought the hammer with her, pulled it out of an inside pocket.
The Hammer travelled from under the sofa to near the door at the end of the scene, but considering the way they were thrashing about that isn't too much of a stretch.

Right I really must get out of this thread, I'm not even a fan of this chaps work it was just something entertaining on TV to me.

I agree. I do think the feelings are real, but destructive. Lol is in the wrong place and this is the wrong time. I think, deep down, she still loves Woody too and I think Milky loves him and Woody loves them. One big mess and I think Milky being noble and Woody manning up might be the best solution.
 
Combo has always loved Lol ... yet knows he has no chance of any life with her. On top of that he has come out of prison and found nothing to live for in the outside world. So I would say yes, he has become institutionalised, but his decision was far, far deeper than a desire to go back inside.

I much prefer these sorts of scenes to the Hollywood generated, stylised, perfect sex.

I am enjoying this series so far, I was a bit dubious about a spin off series after the film (cause they don't usually work) but this has been great so far.
 
Yes, this has really bugged me, he seems to have lost his maturity and compassion and been turned into some sort of buffoon, very disappointing...why has his character changed so drastically? I think you are right, it is to justify Lol's story. Even so, it still doesn't explain why Lol all of a sudden is going on about Milky being 'the prince he always was', there was no hint of that in the film, Lol and Woody seemed to be solid and the 'adults' of the gang.

She seemed to jump into bed too quick with Milky and I don't think either of them would do that without some serious guilt and agony being involved, it was just too 'wham bam'. It doesn't seem considered at all.

I'd like to see Combo come back, the best character (even tho he was a vile NF thug) and an absolutely blinding performance in the film. You could see that hurt, screwed up inner kid project all his pain and violence all over the place, he was fantastic to watch.
 
I've been off-and-on with this, but I have thought at times it has been a bit lazy with re-creating 1986, not for reasons already mentioned but from things like the doors and windows featured. I noticed they had double glazing and multi-point locking doors in today's episode and noticed some similar mistakes last week. It's only a small gripe, but still noticable.
