This is England 86 (Spoilers)

I just didn;t feel there was a really 80s feel about the way they looked ,Its my era I was 21 in 1986 so it sort of jarred but I really enjoyed the programme anyway
 
I think there was a compromise between Channel 4 who wanted a comedy and Meadows who wanted a drama, it started as a comedy romp and the percentage of comedy decreased with each episode.

They pulled the viewers in with fun before laying the harrowing scenes on them.

I think Combo only had a small part in this because Stephen Graham was busy with Boardwalk Empire and various movies.
 
I can't stand people who complain about a TV show it does my head in.

These people are ruining TV.

Things are already bad with censoring but it's just going to get worse and worse.
 
To those complaining about this being the worst scene ever on TV. Cmon, Tracee being beaten to death by Ralphie in the Sopranos was a hundred times worse

2 things stood out about this rape for me which really added to the realism.

a) the girl was too scared to scream or fight back. looking in from the outside, why didn't she gouge him in the eye and run away ? why not scream loud enough so the neighbours heard ? Just doesn't work like that.

b) The rapist afterwarRAB didn't threaten her with the usual "say anything to anyone about this and i'll kill you". He just asked her to leave, he was disgusted with himself


BTW in the last season of TV, both Shameless and Sons of Anarchy had rape scenes so i really don't know what the fuss is about
 
Cor, they talk about games of two halves, but they've got nothing on tonight's show!

The first half was pretty shocking (imo), with the whole Trudy/Gadget storyline being a load of inane filler- but that last bit with Lol's dad was just...incredible and horrendous at the same time.

It felt so real and incredibly acted and directed. God I hope Combo tortures the b*stard
 
Just finished watching the episode. Had to skip most of the rape scene, it made me feel sick.

and on Combo - I hope the gang kick the shit out of him for what he did to Milky.
