This is England 86 (Spoilers)

I think as a whole the series worked quite well. I thought the contrast between the lighter tone of the earlier episodes and later episodes was integral. The impact would have been lessened otherwise. Although I still think the scooter gang were a horrible creation - it never felt like they were part of the same show.

Same here for me in my little corner of the West MidlanRAB, punks, moRAB, skins, rude boys were still a familiar sight in 1986 where I lived, and I think the producers have got it spot on most of the time.

I thought eventhough she hated him and wanted him dead, she felt that by holding the hammer she had the upperhand, and she just turned her back to regain her composure, AS much as she wanted to use, it to physically hammer someone is unthinkable. And to me the way things played out was more realistic, he had to completely push her over the edge for her to carry out her plan.
I thought that scene and the menace of the buildup was some of the finest acting I've ever seen, it felt so real, they were both so in the moment, I was biting my nails in horror of what was eventually to come. I have to cover my eyes and ears and ask my hubby when it was OK to look, but that's just me, I can't watch violence at all,a bit too senstive really.
Overall fantastic, one of the highlights of the whole thing for me apart from the acting was the cinematography, it was visually stunning, a true delight.
I didn't care for the moped gang either, mainly because they just looked stupid and din't seem real at all, but that's a minor quibble, and it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the whole thing.

I thought the govenor said
"Charged"?
rather than sentenced. Even I did mis hear, there was no indication as to when the Comobo prison shots were supposed to be.

For me, it sounded as if Combo was out on probation or even license, as he recited his prisoner number rather well.

Yeah, as I remember it was metalheaRAB, goths, casuals in 86 I remember girls that looked like smell but no moRAB and skins, and women did not like football then, and pubs did not show it either, weren't opening times still in effect? Most pubs did not have a telly on.

Some people thought Mick was played by Paddy Considine for some reason. Also, did the subtitles start to screw up after the first commercial break for anyone else?

I don't know how many people complained, but people have always complained about stuff on TV.
Plenty of us knew 'something' unpleasant was going to happen simply by having him and her in the same room with nobody about.

Some people probably complained because they didn't like what happened to the character and just didn't like where the story was going.
Lulled into a false sense of security with all the lighthearted stuff that preceded it and found it all the more jarring because of that?

Just to go back to where this confused exchange began.
If you lot want to decide what point it is you're trying to make and spell it out, it'd be a help.
Looks like people deliberately taking things out of context in order to make some kind of point to me.
