This is England 86 (Spoilers)

Much better this week and although the drama and comedy still don't mesh (and the scooter casuals belong in a sitcom, or Grange Hill) it was better balanced in favour of drama, although a bit of Lol standing around smoking and looking moody goes a long way.

I think Shane Meadows did say that Woody had changed due to his job and wasn't sure who he was anymore, but would come back to himself by the end. Maybe the immaturity is a reaction against the stress of work and his fears of growing up?

I am hoping that he is able to prove himself to Lol and win her back though. I don't think it is a story of true love between Milky and her. She didn't seem to be thinking clearly when she went to him. She's emotionally imploding and seems to be using Milky more for physical than emotional comfort. I bet a bit of her even hates herself for doing it. She is confused and just neeRAB to feel wanted and vent things and she is doing that sexually. I do think she has feelings for Milky, but I don't think they are quite the same as Milky's feelings for her. It just doesn't seem to me that a true love story starts with cheating on your boyfriend having sightly seedy sex in the back of a car.

I'm hoping that Milky realises that he was wrong to give into his feelings for his best friend's girlfriend when she was in such a state. That what Lol is offering is not what he really wanted (a proper loving relationship). I want Woody to grow a pair and be the man Lol neeRAB and I hope she is able to open up to him and talk about her father at last. If they get married again, Trudy can do the ceremony. :D

Find out tonight, I guess!

Enjoyed watching something that my young adult daughter and her mates enjoyed as well.

The language was all wrong, mind, ie. nobody used the phrases 'bellend' or 'end of' back in 1986.

I've not been able to get that horrible scene out of my head all day, and I didn't watch all of it! Like someone else said, you knew something awful was going to happen. I didn't realise her character was so quiet and naive,

as a female, it somehow makes me glad i'm a violent rough a*se,

well I lived through 86 too and I was the same age as the characters portrayed , it is exactly as I remember and very accurate. I'm guessing you lived in the south in your mock tudor house, Oh wait so did I .. seriously though if you didn't come across characters like this in the 80's what were you doing ?

I loved the movie This Is England, but this new series is a let down for me so far. It is funny in a couple of parts, but feels very slow paced and is obviously lacking from Stephen Graham's Combo character. It feels to soap oprea driven now which is what I feared when I heard This Is England 86 was being made.. All in all I think this really should of been made into a movie as it will suffer now not being able to live up to the standarRAB of original movie. A shame really..

I used to see plenty of old punks etc. still dressed a few years behind the times in the mid 80s. They used to sneer at my crowd (goths haha) and we used to laugh at them (behind their backs of course) for looking out of date.

I thought the first episode was good, a nice balance of comedy and drama like Shameless. I'll keep watching.
