This is [B]not[/B] the winter of our discontent.

Three state schools in Idaho. All 3 are good at something.

U of I: Engineering and Law

BSU: Engineering and Business (and making rabid fair weather football fans)

ISU: Pharmacy and Physical Therapy (And teaching and nursing but it's not like those are hard to do)
 
Our schools here are status ranked.

1. John's Hopkins -medical/science
2..UMD, College Park -research/business/math/engineering/journalism
3.UMUC-military/IT
4.Towson-teaching/nursing/internships
5.UM, Baltimore County-science/technology


?.Frostburg- for high school dropouts and our official party school. Also offers advance beer pong.

This order is based purely on prestige and other academic achievements.

I'm considering a career in law, which is partially why I chose U of I. At this point I'm not really sure what I want to do with my life. This is the beauty of studying English; you can work in nearly any field, so long as you don't pick some bullshit emphasis like "Education." Don't misunderstand me, I love English, which is the first, and best reason for it's choice as my degree.

At this point i'm really favoring teaching, but not at the secondary level. If I were to teach it would be at the university level. Period.

I plan on grad school, one way or the other, and I think I'll just sit for the LSAT at the same time as my GRE's.

My sister has a degree in English from U of I. You're right, she can work in any field. As a secretary. Although she's now a teacher.

Teaching at the Uni level is pretty much going to require a PhD. I've got no clue if that's even offered in Idaho. Probably is though.

Good on you for having a long range plan. I went to school with a plan. And that plan was "beer" Which is why I have two degrees but I got lucky and pulled it off. Too bad I don't like my career path. ;)
 
Cool. What was her emphasis?

The teaching rate is very high for English majors. 3 out of 10,. Yeah there's a doctorate program offered here if I'm unlucky enough not to be able to go anywhere else.

I plan to work my ass off. I'm aiming for a Rhodes Scholarship, which is next to impossible. However, if I keep my goals that high, and perform on that level, I'll be able to attend grad school someplace better.

I do know that the majority of Rhodes Scholars come from more prestigious institutions, however there are a handful every year selected from lesser known schools. BSU had one a just a couple of years ago.
 
Shit, I don't even know where she lives. All I could tell you is that she's got some sort of English degree and teaches some sort of elementary education someplace.

Knowing her, her emphasis was either cracking the books or sucking dick.
 
Well, either Moscow is in the Northern Hemisphere. Unless there's another one or two somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere. I'm just too lazy to do a search.
