1. Social issues-government and big business vs. the common man
2. Journalists who brought these social issues into print
3. Exposing how bad things were
4. By writing and informing people they hoped that companies and government would make changes.
5. Filth, disease, little pay, lack of education, crime
6. It exposed how bad working conditions were. The company had locked exit doors, windows were barred, material was everywhere and floor were crowded with machinery, people and materials.
7. You could write a Ph.d. thesis on this
8. Working men were worth more than working women
9. She voted in an election
10. Women were seen as favoring the disadvantaged. If women had political power through the vote, they might force government to control what businesses were doing.
