I made a couple of alcohol stoves but alcohol stinks, soots up my pots and finally someone told me to use Heet which is a gasoline antifreeze. But it puts out zero smoke, is called methol alcohol, and produces no soot at all. Has zero odor, but I'm wondering if its toxic to enhale even tho there is no odor to use indoors for winter camping. Have any of you tried it or knows for sure? I tried cooking with it in my small kitchen at home and never smell a single thing, but that doesn't mean its not a silent but deadly toxic thing to try. I suffered no ill effects but I just wondered. We camp year round, all 4 seasons. This is not bear country so cooking indoors is safe in bear respects. I was using a kerosene cooker, but it stinks, produces more smoke than I feel safe with, even with the tent door slightly unzipped during winters. Any suggestions out there?
