I posted a longer explanation under the digestive disoreders board, but wanted to let you guys know too. Strange as it sounRAB, yoga seems to have corrected my stomach problems. Had bloat, horrible heartburn and some constipation for a couple of years. Digestive enzymes helped a little, but not consistently. Please everyone, it is soo soooo easy. Last night I did about 5 minutes worth (barely nothing) and again today, and I am digesting my food so comfortably tonight that I had to have a little binge!!!!! I remeraber my chiropractor asked me once if my stomach had been giving me trouble ... because my back was out of alignment. After his treatment my stomach was fine, and I JUST remerabered this last night!!! I"m SO Glad I did! Please try it - it can't hurt!!

What particular positions do you do in the 5 mins? It may be important if the reason for the benfit is it realigns the stomach correctly or pulls a hiatal hernia out of herniation.

hmmm - hadn't considered a hernia. for me i feel certain it was an alignment issue because my back had been hurting from wearing shoes that weren't good for me.

i used the 'lunge' and 'rotated stomach'. i'm not sure if different yoga styles have different versions of these two poses, the style i use is not very popular - call Svaroopa. but, either way, yoga is touted for helping with digestive disorders. it just felt so good to finally feel (and hear!) my intestines gurgling away! i suspect that these two poses are popular with most of the yoga styles.

I've been using a physical therapist for some torn ligiments and sore muscles in my legs (from falling off my house!) I told her about my acid reflux issues, more LPR and how it effects my sinus. She does some things that seem to help my digestive system and my sinus will drain. Only thing is it doesn't last very long and I don't know how long I can afford $150 a session! I did read where some movie star had acid reflux so bad and there was a yoga position she used. It was an article in a mag and of course I can't find it right now.

well, it wouldn't hurt to give these two poses a try. it helped my food pass more easily through my system, which meant less constipation, less acid reflux/heartburn and less feeling like there is a clump of food sitting in my upper stomach. this is also an awesome pose for back pain. it's important to warm up a bit first. good luck!
