THis has got to be one of the worst plays in US socccer history?

Why did Tim Howard make such a dumb decision on Brazil's 2nd goal yesterday. It hit the top of the post then came down and was headed in, only thing was that when it was headed in he was standing half way in the goal already. Why didn't he go and challenge the ball? Even if it got blocked it still would have been a goal because he was standing in the net. Unbelievable. Don't get me wrong he made some great saves to keep the US in it but that's got to be one of the dumbest plays i've ever seen. He could have easily went and got the ball himself or at least challenged the header.
 
dunno how you can knock howard he was really good and after all brazil did score another goal tht was over the line but wasnt given.
 
Tim Howard was amazing, He made incredible saves the whole tourney every game. He makes one bad decision where their was utter madderss going around an all he was trying to do was keep the ball out of the net.

Also USA had some really bad moments. in their history.
The goal in the loss to costa Rica was way worse.
 
that is way too harsh on howard he played a great game but there was nothing he could do on that second goal it got deflected on the way in and then was put off the crossbar... when the ball went off the crossbar it was behind howard and he didnt know where the ball was and then about a second later a head was put onto it and was put into the net... yes he dived into the net to try to block it but either way he had no chance and he did already get away with one header that was in the net the he pushed out... it was worth a try to do it again
