This doesn't make any sense. I'm freaking out.

About a year ago, I started to notice my appetite has been changing. It was last July when I started to notice this. I notice everything I eat and drink no longer tastes good anymore. You know if you eat the same food, over and over again, you will get sick of it. If you had to eat spaghetti every day for an entire month, you'd get sick of it, wouldn't you? I feel like I just did that. Every food that I eat, tastes horrible. Even my favorite foods I no longer like the taste of anymore. It feels like I eat the same thing over and over. Every time I eat, I have to force it down and really, I only take a few bites until I feel full and gross from what I ate. I don't like any food at all anymore. Nothing tastes good or has for about a year now. Some food I just have to spit back out when I used to love it a year ago. I can't think of anything else to try. Last night I went to the grocery store and I used to be able to fill up a cart full of goodies but now I barely get anything. Last night I only bought milk, cheese, cereal, sausage links, a rotisserie chicken and some noodles so I could make a soup out of the chicken. I could not think of anything else I like. I really only bought those few things and don't like the taste of anything else anymore. And I barely like the taste of all of what I just bought.

But this is the really weird part... I am not obese and I am skinny (average). Usually I'm about 130 lbs. Lately people have been telling me I look like I lost some weight but my clothes fit the same. I wear a size 7-8 jeans and everyone says I look like I'm getting skinnier. People think I weight about 110-130lbs. I have people guess my weight since I went to the doctor for an exam. This is the messed up part. When I stepped on the scale at the doctors office, I weighed 189 lbs. They were very shocked and immediately concerned. I had to step on another scale (a digital this time) and a couple other nurses had to be witnesses of my weight on the scale. I had to talk to a few medical practitioners during my appointment because I was there 6 months ago and was at 133 lbs and now I'm 189 lbs and I don't look like I gained anything. I look skinnier. This doesn't make sense to me or my doctor. I was checked for diabetes and I seem to be in good health. I, or my doctor has no idea how this is possible. I am supposed to go back in a week to check my weight. Maybe my eating habits have something to do with this? I'm really freaked out I might have some rare disease that hasn't been discovered yet. I'm not looking for advice. If my doctor doesn't have an answer yet, nobody else will. I just want to vent and I'm really worried.

did your doc actually run a complete metabolic panel and check liver and definitely kidney labs too with the bloodwork, just to really check out ALL of the more critical lab functions? you 'could' be retaining water here too depending. that just could explain the putting on "wieght part, just excess fluid in your system? the fact that nothing actually 'tastes good" to you, i am wondering if you ever actually taste like a more metallic type of taste in your mouth at all ever? certain kidney problems can bring on that kind of metallic taste if you are at times tasting that? also checking your thyroid just to really see if there just is anything at all out of whack there wouldn't hurt. you just need to have your doc check all bases here for some direction and indication of what in the heck could actually make you 'look' like you did not gain wieght and here you are actually much much heavier than you were and people 'think"? you actully "look' skinnier? that would just more indicate that something more internal is heavier than the norm? are you STILL wearing that very same size of pants with this going on too?

but i really would have him check those kidney labs and also check your urine for ANY possible traces of protein there too? if there just IS any real underlying kidney disease going on, one of the very first indicators of it would show up in your urine first in most cases with at the very LEAST 'trace protien' in it. unfortunetly this is just going to be a matter of testing possible things here and either ruling them IN or OUT in certain ways. hopefully this can be explained pretty quickly for you. i really am curious about what is behind this too since it just seems soo odd?

i DO wish ya luck with this. please do keep me posted as to what you find out,K? FB

It sounds alot like when my ex first started getting anorexia he taste changed she didnt like food anymore

talk to your doctor insist they help you :)

good luck

Well I was going to ask if you had started or changed to a new prescription of anything, since some Rx's can make food taste funny or even bad. So can thrush- if you use certain asthma inhalers you can get a yeast infection in your mouth that will make everything taste bad.

But that was before you said you look 120 but weigh 180. Something is definitely off there. To weigh 180 but still fit into a size 8...well, have they checked your bone density and run other panels? The weight is going somewhere. I have heard of very VERY rare diseases that can significantly increase bone density (which could account for weight gain that doesn't change your clothes fit) but...I would just insist that the doctors keep looking. This makes no sense.

My first thought is water retention, but you would think that would be obvious (visible.) And you are definitely not pregnant?
Let us know if you have any unusual lab results and what diagnosis you end up with. I'm really curious.
