This album > that album.

OK, I looked up the discography at allmusic. Ha ha, they're right between Landed and Out of Reach that I have. Can't believe I missed them.

You put The Avalanche and The BQE before Seven Swans? Weird, I agree with your first two and last one though.

(the rest I don't want to put in the effort of going into)

Fair enough. In my own defense, I did really try to give it a chance. I listened to it multiple times trying to let it grow on me since I was really into Metallica at the time. And believe me, I don't mind change...I fully support a band's decision to explore new sounRAB. I personally love the Black Album. Hell, I even like a lot of what's on Load and Reload. St. Anger just really doesn't do anything for me. The only reason I haven't listened to Death Magnetic is because I've honestly not been so much into Metallica in the past couple years, so I have no clue how that album played out. I am glad they didn't stick to the St. Anger sound, though.

That's not very open-minded of you, Jackhammer. :nono:

Why can't pop punk exist? It's just pop at a quick pace to three chord guitar and sometimes it sounRAB GREAT...

EDIT: I'll call it fast-pop or aggressive-pop if you'd like?

Yeah I know what you mean, I've only listened to one album but I'm sure he has a few must listen to type of albums. It's just daunting to pick another out of all 33, I was hoping a kind raber could point me in the right direction :D

The Short of It: I'm one of the people who say that Hatful was a far better representation of the first year of The Smiths. Now onto the explanation.

To my ears at least, it's the Production - it sounRAB a bit flat in the mix, but only by comparison to the great sound of the other albums. The songs themselves are classics, no argument there, but somehow Hatful was really a major improvement with a the more immediate sound of most tracks from the Peel Sessions and B-Sides ("Reel Around the Fountain" being the exception) that was more fitting of the early songs, and is in result one of the essential albums of The 80's and forever, even if it was a Compilation. Meat Is Murder may have dipped a little in the lyric department, but with the production adding in a fullness and occasional experimentation that was perfect for the songs. The Queen Is Dead is a classic from start to finish while despite it's brief running time Strangeways to me had quite a few classics and a sharp production that resulted in on excellent way to finish.

At the Drive-In:
Relationship of Command>Acrobatic Tenement>In/Casino/Out
It appears we're all at an impasse.

Sound of Animals Fighting:
Lover, The Lord has Left Us>Tiger and the Duke>The Ocean and the Sun

The first six albums on your list for most people could go in any order, for me

Beatles:

Abbey Road> Sgt. Peppers> White Album> Revolver> Rubber Soul> Magical Mystery Tour (As for the others have no real preference really)

Clutch
Robot Hive/Exodus > Pure Rock Fury > The Elephant Riders > Blast Tyrant > Clutch > From Beale Street to Oblivion > Jam Room > Strange Cousins From The West

Mastodon
Blood Mountain > Leviathan and Crack the Skye > Remission
