The gixxer and VStar are not geared to go an estimated 186 mph. Your $20k superbike is not the problem. Your riding style simply does not fit the characteristics of the bike. Try changing the sprockets if you want better low RPM throttle response. It WILL get hot no matter what you do... so get used to it. With more power comes more heat. You purchased one of the most powerful twin cylinder motorcycles on the market. What did you expect? It shares nothing in common with your gixxer 600 aside from maybe the front tire size. It is a different animal all together. I would LOVE to have an 1198s. You should feel lucky.
 
Why not go back to Del Amo and tell them you're not happy with the bike. They may give you a good trade-in on something else -especially if the mileage on your bike is low. Actually, have them check the bike first to make sure they think it's normal. If they say it is, ask them to trade it in.
 
fuck me dude.......why don't you spend some time getting to know the bike first before you make a hasty decision

did you marry your wife the first night you met or did you take it for a coupla good rides around the block before you decided ??
 
sweetas, in the US there are rarely demo models on bikes so unless they have a used one on the floor good luck with a test ride. We all want to buy bikes with only the 4mi pre-check ride on them. Super Virgin
 
Shit, that sucks. Ducati dealers have most base models available for test rides in Oz. Usually encourage you to give it heaps. The last 1198 that I test rode, I took it back and said it felt ordinary, he changed the tyre pressures, filled it with fuel and sent me back out on it.

But I guess that is why we end up paying thousands more for our new 'super virgin' Ducati's in Oz than you do in the US. They build in the demo's price into each new one they sell.
 
That's what I thought but I recently bought a 1198 and was up in the air between that and the 848. I asked the dealer if I could test ride them and they said sure thing!
