hi all, i had my fusion 5 weeks ago,i now walk about 2 miles a day pain free but my problem is when i lay down the top of my legs on the outside are really sore and like a nurab feeling,im ok all day its when i go to bed at night and lay on them so as you can imagine i toss and turn all night, any suggestions anyone please,

kezzo:)

I had some intermittant nurabness like that, too. It's more than likely just nerve irritation. Nerves do take time to calm down, but it will wane on its own. Do mention it to your doctor, though, next time you see him. Mine was usually relieved by changing position.

Blessings!

They might give you something to take just at night to help with the pain. 5 weeks is still pretty early out. Congratulations on your recovery!!

Since you are very early in your recovery, why don't you back off walking so far and see if it makes any difference??

Have you tried sleeping in a different position to see if that makes a difference?

thanks for your replys,it doesnt matter how far i walk its still the same when i lie on them,i go to see the doctor next week so i will tell him,i do change positions but i can only seem to sleep when i am on my side, typical!i did lie on my back last night but im scared incase i do any damage and i know that sounRAB stupid,
thanks all

Kezzo, that's funny! I was scared to lie on my side because I thought I would do damage! I thought being on my back was the best for not disturbing the fusion.

But really, you do need to change positions and you're not going to hurt your fusion by turning over as long as you're careful to turn without twisting or bending. I was showing bone growth at only 6 weeks and was solidly fused at 6 months, and I regularly turned to each side and my back every night. I worried about it at the time, but I got so sore if I didn't turn regularly, and it all turned out well. You won't harm your fusion by lying on your back. Just be careful when you turn and don't prop yourself up too far so you don't bend the area of your fusion. You'll be fine!

Take care,
Emily
