Thieving sons of bitches

So I get a call tonight saying that they want to verify some charges to my bank account. I think they're full of shit because my school has always warned us about these calls. People call asking for verification who aren't with your bank and then *poof* they steal your money. So I hung up on her.

THANK GOD I had the thought to actually check my online statement.

Someone has pilfered nearly $400 from my account through eBay's half.com. I called and filed a claim right away, but I'm still pissed and worried about what this will do to any future credit I want to get. (Especially since the charges put me in the hole.) I should get my moeny back within 10 business days, but that's not the point.

A week ago, I couldn't get into my e-mail account because my password had been changed to only god knows what. When I tried to look at my ebay account tonight, I couldn't get in because I had the wrong password apparently. I have to wonder if the two incidents are connected somehow? Did someone jack my yahoo info and use that to get into my ebay? It's possible. I can't shut down either account either. This really pisses me off. I don't know what else I can do beyond what I've already done with the bank.

We have the spyware and adware blockers, we have pop-up blocker, we have firewalls, so why are people still able to phish for my informaiton?! I hate this and it makes me depressed, anxious, mad, and tired all at once.

People are stupid and they suck, therefore, I hate people.

Contact Ebay and tell them your account has been jacked.

They can get your info through lots of methods. Such as copies of bills or bank statements, receipts etc... that are in your trash.

good luck =/ I hate when people do shit like that. I've always been afraid that I'm going to get my identity stolen...

I have their phone number and I plan to call them first thing in the morning when they're office hours open up. I also have to drive 45 min. to my bank to submit a statement about the incident. I'm just so stressed out right now. The more I think about it, the worse I feel. I'm never going to get any sleep tonight.

Damn that sucks hardcore. That's one thing I've never worried about. So far I've been lucky, I guess. Not like I have any money to take; my accounts won't be overdrawn, and my credit card is already over limit.

Good luck with getting everything straightened out! Usually I think most financial institutions are fairly good about stuff like that.

Hope you get it figured!

I had some fraudulent charges on my account once as well. Thankfully, it was dealt with accordingly, and it turned out I knew the person who did it.

I hope things get better, Magz.

I was kinda thinking that, too. Not sure why I didn't mention it. Try calling them as soon as you can.

I did call them last night, but their message said to call back within their office hours or e-mail them.

Update:
Today I went to the bank and gave them my statement, I filed a police report, I called eBay's half.com and they said my account already had a freeze on it. (I'm assuming the bank had something to do with that.) and pretty much found out that I have to sit around for the next 10 days waiting for this to be sorted out. In the meanwhile, with the overdraft charges from the dipshits putting me in the red, I'm in the hole $100. It should all be squared away within 10 days or less, but until then, I have no money for anything and that includes the Pirates of the Carribean At World's End premier tomorrow. Oh well, that's what mom and dad are for, right? Anyway, I'm sure this will all be sorted out. Thanks for the replys guys and gals. They made me feel a little less stressed.

Some douche stole my debit card in college, and went to steak and shake on my dime. Called the bank, and they sorted it out straight away. Of course, I had to get a different debit card blah blah blah. It was fine.

Movie premiers suck anyway.

Usually because there's never anywhere to sit, people bring their whiney, snot-nosed kids along, regardless of the movie (I've seen people bring their 3 year olds to The Omen, and The Hills Have Eyes), people whoop and cheer for every little thing, so I can't hear the movie.

Fraud is why you never buy anything online with a debit card. Use a CREDIT card. If they steal that they're stealing the credit company's money. You go through all the same shit, but without them having your cash.

When they steal from your debit card they're actually stealing YOUR money.

If I could get a credit card, I would make purchases on the stores that I frequent online with it. But alas! Danni has no credit. So getting a card is NOT fucking easy.
