Well,,,,.
You knew there was an army base close by when you moved in.
You knew the army operated 24/7/365- and when not traveling by ground vehicles we traveled by rotorwing.
What they are doing is:
1)Practicing aerial manouvers so they don't lose their flying skills.
2)Clocking airtime so the pilots don't lose their flight status.
3)Checking the rotorwings prior to sending them overseas to be shot at, destroyed, over the max hours allowed per airframe so they can be sent back stateside then overhauled and "zero time" the frames again.
4)They could be practicing for a top secret military operation insertion- this is more probable than you realize.
Of course the mission will be scrubbed at the last second (Man that used to make me angry)
