There's this German girl I know. She posted this online: chatting with my schlorps.

What is schlorps? I've tried translating schlorps, and I got nil results. This is utterly baffling. It's not important or anything, I'm just curious as to what it means. The person she was talking to uses the same word.

I've done a bit of research by comparing its usage on German sites. It appears to be a derogatory term used to refer to another person. It's unclear to me as to what exactly is unliked about this person...seems to be a sort of equivalent to "idiot", which we use to describe just about anyone who we want to describe derogatorily.

So calling someone "Schlorps" probably isn't a smart move if you're trying to make friends.

I also found a couple instances where people claimed this as their nickname...I'm guessing these folks have pretty low self-esteem.

My mother tongue is German, but I've never heard of this word... Must be dialectal or some kind of slang, but it isn't surely anything mean.
