There's a thin line between Comedy and Horror Movies...

There is definately a thin line between being scared sh*tless and laughing out loud!

I borrowed The Shining from a friend. He didn't tell me what type of movie it was. I watched it and thought it was a comedy!!! :D

When I gave it back to him, I said "Great film, made me laugh out loud! Especially when the crazy woman was running away from the river of blood coming from the lift... with a knife in her hand!"

He was shocked by this... and frankly, quite scared by what I had said!

Still this is the same with many other films e.g. Scream (all of them).

What do you guys think?

well similary both rely on expert timing, the punch of the comic joke and the punch of the ultraviolence have to come at a point thats both wholy unexpected for either the shock or punchline to work. if it's obvious then both will be diminised and therefore the comedian will corpse and the scare wont shock
