Theres a man in my garden...help?

[I have a hairy big toe]

My flat is above a BT building, the flat is upstairs but the front door down so theres a staircase. I left the light on in the staircase and went to switch it off but i had to turn the upstairs one on because it was too dark. I looked out of the window and there was a man in my garden looking at the window because the light had obviously just caught his attention. He was just standing there watching the building. I ran back and told my boyfriend who went out with a hammer to see who it was but he'd gone. We live in an isolated area miles from anyone and there are so many places he could have hid. There was no car that i could so, it seems so weird considering it was ten to nine at night. We phoned the police and they said they dont have the manpower to send someone out so lock the doors and windows and they will send someone when they can. Should i be worried? You never know with people these days and its so strange. Help.

I called the police first and they told me they couldnt send anyone so my boyfriend went to check if he was gone and took a hammer just in case
He was just standing there, sort of looking at our house, But because we are so isolated, it seems weird. Its not like we are on a walker route or anything like that..especially not at this time of night

He has prob run off now he knows you have seen him. Do as the police say and it sound as if your boyfriend can look after you so try not to worry too much at least you are not on your own. Know this is not much help. Sorry. If you see or hear anything again keep ringing the police. x
