There will be blood

I watched this last night and felt it dragged alittle, that said Daniel Day Lewis is superb and very worthy of his Best Actor award. Definately a marmite film though.

You are almost alone in thinking this film is pap. It's won almost universal praise. I think it's fantastic and Daniel Day Lewis is incredible..

If I was you I'd probably withdraw your application to Sight and Sound...

Please don't tell me you thought Norbit was faultless..

I thought Daniel truly deserved the oscar for this. His acting is superb.

As for the movie.....it was okay but nowhere near as exciting as Last of the Mohicans which is my all time favourite movie of his. He was absolutely fantastic in that movie :)

I was completely astounded by it. It was like seeing Lawrence of Arabia for the first time again. I've normally got a gnat's attention span but I was totally absorbed the whole way through. What a character... and besides the story (human fallibility writ large) there's the photography, the music... I was just awestruck and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Oh come on, that doesn't mean we all have to like it. There is definitely a case of 'The Emperor's New Clothes' with all the critics loving this movie just because they feel they have to.

i found it pretentious and dull. It didn

Not all the critics liked it, I think the Mail on Sunday thought the same as you. What does it feel like to have the same views as the Mail on Sunday? :D

I haven't seen the film, but I do find DDL very hammy.

That accent in 'Gangs of New York'

It was rumoured that, when preparing for 'In the Name of the Father', he insisted on being locked in a cell for 36 hours and having all forms of abuse hurled at him. As Lord Olivier once (allegedly) said "Have you tried just acting, dear boy?"
