There is this backpack searching thing going on at our school because of bomb threats?

I and many others have never seen a bomb threat because we live in a really small town. It's like what can happen to our small stupid school? They search our back packs every morning and I hate it! Invasion of privacy. It is for safety but ick. What do think we should do?
 
While you are at school, most of your rights are shed; the right to speech, for example. The school officials do have the authority to search your bags without your consent. Actually, they don't even need the excuse of a bomb threat to search your bags. A simple "we have a source saying that someone is carrying a cell phone" would suffice.

Suck it up. Do you want to have privacy or safety?

I mean, come on. Suppose someone IS planning a bomb attack. Which would you choose as a target - the school where the bags are searched, or the one with no checks because everyone presumes it won't be them?
 
Well personally, I feel you shouldn't bring anything innapropriate. Too young for sex, shouldn't have knives, guns, drugs. I can see if it's like a pad/tampon but other than that I can't see what would be the problem. No one usually have a invasion of privacy issue unless they are hiding something. I don't care either way, if someone has something their not supposed to and get caught. i feel they should be very responible and take their punishment. It gets you out of a lot being responsible. Even if you didn't do it, let them figure it out. If they don't you did your time and you didn't fight them.. fighitng them can get you in trouble whether it's jail or detention. They can raise it just for back talking. So be responsible and you may get out of it and be in a teachers favor. It helps, especially since my past fights I never got in trouble especially since I was the one to throw first punch. Funny story, I had 2 teachers on my side, one covered for me even though I pelted a kid in the head with a battery for being a jerk. I didn't get in trouble and the kid got suspended for throwing the battery back at me and for cussing, then yelling at the teacher. Another teacher told me I could beat the heck out of this kid and he'd stand and watch for a few and then would be required to break it up or he'd lose his job. But he'd cover for me. So being in a teachers favor is good. glaring at them and giving them dirty looks while being snotty and pissy won't get you very far or privelages. JUST A TIP. As for the bomb threat issues, it's serious. Even if they get 1 false bomb threat call it's too risky to blow it off. If they don't take security percautions they can be sued for thousands of dollars and all fired. If you were them, would you want to lose your job and money? Prolly not, so they don't either. Give them the benefit of the doubt. It happens all the time, we had bomb threats once a week back in a small 5k population town in oregon. WEEKLY, so I understand it pretty well. Been through it all. ;) stick through it.
 
Thats happened to us. I too live in a small quiet town and during my freshman year we had 3 bomb threats, bullets found in the hallway, and a threat to kill 32 people written on the wall (that day we had a lockdown for 3 hours! and some girl took her camera out to show someone pictures and she dropped it and the flash went off and and all the girls in the corner screamed and jumped to the ground lmao!!). There really is nothing that can be done. It was probably some stupid senior at your school. Thats the case for us. Just don't bring anything dangerous to school! lol
 
It's a legitimate reason to search your backpack. Don't carry anything you wouldn't want your mother to see and you'll be fine.
