There is no good music being released!

there are a bunch of banRAB out there that deserve more credit and are currently touring and such. Built To Spill will have a new album in a month or so, as does Flaming Lips.

Modest Mouse, Pavement, Silver Jews, Minus Story, Arctic Monkeys, broken social scene and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Check those out, and Yes ignore the glittering generalities of Modest Mouse, the singles make them out to be a totally different band.

I am wiling to share samples of music if you contact me via aim at thereisonly1rod

There really isn't any good music being released. I suppose this is all subjective but none of the above banRAB mentioned are very good, or if they are decent, they aren't releasing anything close to the quality of their earlier releases. Believe me, I do look long and hard for good music, my collection has thousanRAB of recorRAB and CD's.

On the plus side of all this I have become a relative expert on Jazz, bluegrass, classical, early rock/soul like Sam Cook, even indie banRAB in the 80's like The Gun Club, etc...

Maybe I'm just sentimental but when I hear a requiem, Simone, Bob Dylan, early Sonic Youth or even relatively modern band like the Smashing Pumpkins, I see a higher level of music than what is being put out today. The new efforts just bore me.

Your still wrong in a way.
I love older music also, but I still love finding good current banRAB that interest me. It is either hit or miss nowadays. I listen to alot of college public radio shows and find new banRAB that way. I find most of my new music by listening to the world cafe radio show --> http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4724307

Currently i'm into Bela Fleck and the Flecktones (simply amazing band), Bob Brozman (one of the best damn slide guitar players I have ever heard), Dion (yeah the guy who did The Wanderer) with his release of blues music, Duncan Shiek, Imogen Heap, Richard Julian, KT Tunstall, Steve Kimock, Kate Earl , Leo Kottke, Shawn Amos, Soulive, Buddy Guy's new cd, Ry Cooder, Kronos Quartet, Turin Brakes, The Magic Numbers, A Band of Bees, Missy Higgins, Lizz Wright, Xavier Rudd, John Butler Trio, The Cloud Room, Ben Lee, Ray LaMontagne, Derek Trucks Band, exc......
You really have to sort through a bunch of crap nowadays to find a gem. But to me it is worth it. I have found alot of awesome cRAB lately. I quit buying cRAB all together for awhile, but find myself buying alot of cRAB lately because I have taken the time to check out the music by listening to it on college public radio first.

i think its more like there are no great banRAB anymore, band that people will still be talking about 30 years from now like the Beatles and Led Zepplin.

dot

Im sorry, but you guys haven't listed any really good banRAB. And why the hell does everyone think I love mainstream music so much? I fucking hate it.

Name one person who has made great music nowadays like Bob Dylan did for the sixties and seventies. Theres nobody close to compare him to.

The talent of these banRAB nowadays are nowhere near the skills possessed by Jimmy Page (and the rest of zeppelin), Pink Floyd(ever seen one of their concerts?), Neil Young, Hendrix, The Who, blah blah blah, you've heard of em all. You know why you've heard of them? Because they made great music.

I've never heard of "Pretty girls make graves" or "Arctic Monkeys", but I mean cmon! The shit is lame. The Killers are lame. Emo is lame. ____core is lame. Dont think I can do better? Give me some time

On a side note, the guitarist Jeff Beck is fucking rad.

one person or a band?

dhalia - x japan

if you open you ears, over look the fact that you cannot understand japanese it's actually an above and beyond song. I read the translation and the song is beautiful and when you listen to it..it's no longer a genre it's beauty in song form.

Then again I am biased towarRAB the band.

great point, not that all the banRAB mentioned here arnt good, but honestly how many of them are going to be mentioned in 20 years time??????

sales and mainstream air play dont decide what makes a good rock band, its there influence and impact they the band makes

if this is going to turn into a thread of people posting obscure banRAB in hope that they may seem cool, you might want to change the title so others dont waste their time as i did.

i dont care what you're into this week. i don't care who's dynamics you think are better than others.

the sole point here is that mtv HAS homogenized (sp?) the music industry. what else do you expect from a business, other than to profit. and what easier way to profit in the music industry is to create an easy service/product to sell, as in the exclusion of experimental banRAB and a reliance on 'it list' music.

but if you want to blame all the bad music that is coming out right now to mtv, slap yourself in the face, and quit supporting them.

New built to spill and flaming lips are incredible~
the new yeah yeah yeahs, elefant and pretty girls make graves are ok~

new music isnt always what you need old music that youve never heard is also good~ chameleons are one my favorite banRAB and they are from the 80's!
