TheJackson 5 cartoon should be released on DVD

I'm trying to remember if it was Hanna-Barbera or DIC that did New Kids, which went 1 season on ABC, replaced by Hammerman. I'd imagine that Sony would have the rights to the cartoon, though, regardless of studio.

Considering that Donnie Wahlberg has become a respectable actor since then, maybe it'll never see a DVD release unless Sony decides on a box set of the New Kids' CD's.

1. Remember that King Features produced the Beatles toons. The rights might be tied up in litigation for years for the same reasons as the Jackson 5ive (Dr. Tooth, FWIW, they used the 5 instead of F in "Five" for reasons only the Jacksons, Rankin/Bass, & Motown knew).

2. Hammer was, like the Beatles, a Capitol recording artist, but has since moved on to other labels, IIRC. He might have the rights to the toons himself, unless DIC is holding them. DIC produced Hammerman.

3. Not sure who did Kid 'N' Play's show, but again, that might be down to either the artists or the studio.

The Beatles would be the only one that would have enough fan clammoring to actually make it happen. Other than that...

Well, Hammerman may be easy and cheap to get rights to. I mean, just give him a sandwich and he'll sign the release form.

HAMMERMAN

HAMMER

HAMMERMAN

HAMMER

I'd buy a Hammerman DVD just to laugh at it. Jackson 5ive... maybe, it looks pretty bad too, but not as laughably bad as Hammerman was.

I know this is a far-fetched deal, but I know someday they'll release it onto DVD and I have a few ideas on what they should do. They can some classic J5 pics as the cover and the DVDs themselves:

The cover(re-drawn as their animated counterparts):

(With Ray and Charles standing on Michael's shoulders and Rosey in front of them) And the title: The Jackson 5ive: The Complete Series

DVD 1:

DVD 2:

DVD 3:

Bonus Features:
Interviews with Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon Jackson
Comercial bumpers
Commercials for Post cereals

Now I know this won't happen, but just imagine it.

DIC did the NKOTB cartoon series in 1990. And Saban/Marvel did Kid and Play in 1990.

What about the complete series of the 1990 Guys Next Door Saturday morning live action series on DVD if NBC Universal can release it?

Saban did Kid 'N' Play? I know Marvel put out a comic book companion series which also bombed, but given Saban's horrid track record with toons outside Nickelodeon (and Kidd Video, co-produced w/DIC), now we know why that series failed. FWIW, since Disney bought Saban, they might have the rights on Kid 'N' Play.
