The X Files: I Want to Believe

Um, ok. Saw this on Monday night in the States, and I'm afraid to say I found it to be pretty awful. Was thinking it over on the flight home this morning. The plot is very good, or at least had potential to be before someone took it, stretched it very thin and ensured that the whole film moved at glacial pace. Ugh..really disappointing :(

I caught random episodes of The X Files on Living around January and thought the show was great. I started buying the seasons from March, and watched Season 1-9 all the way through in one big marathon from March - July this year, and I was anticipating the film so much. After hearing the bad reviews about the film I was starting to get anxious and worried that the film wouldn't live up to my expectations, but it really, really did.

The whole film was just so magical - Mulder and Scully were back, but they're lost. Living in the middle of nowhere with no connections to the world, apart from Scully's job as a doctor. Then the film gets started and it's just like old times. This film is my film of the year so far. Mulder and Scully are two amazing characters and two equally brilliant actors play them so well.

Chris Carter did a brilliant job with the writing and direction, and he has possibly introduced The X Files to a whole new generation of fans. I'm hoping that we get one final film in 2012 so we can say one final goodbye to this brilliant universe of The X Files. :)

PS. I'm 17, so teenagers today are interested! :p

I used to like the X-files series and the original movie, but this new film is being advertised to the death and it's slowly putting me off.

Well only you can judge if my assessment is accurate. Its all subjective. But
there are some truly dire things, just look out for the scene during the closing credits. I found it an insult to X-files fans.

Really looking forward to seeing it!

Not reading the reviews as I want to avoid spoilers- but of course I've no self control so I did read your spoiler :o:D

Looks good though I thought!

LOL Indeed random casting with Billy but looking forward to seeing how he does in the role!

Yeah, looks good. The adverts on the tv make it look as though it's going to be really good.

For anyone who's interested, there's a fab interview with them both in this months Empire magazine.

I can't imagine that anyone in their right mind takes any notice of AICN's 'reviews', so I for one will judge the film after I've seen it. :)

That's the case with any movie. But it's only a cam copy, and I think most people steer clear of those. I know I do.

Man, all I'm reading about the movie so far is negative comments. Don't think I've seen anyone say anything good about it!

Yeah, AICN has lost any credibility that it once had in terms of reviews imo (it's still pretty good for news though, just don't read the moronic comments left by the userbase. Last week they had a story on the new Terminator and everybody started slating T2...idiots.), and we can definitely write off this "review" anyway due to the fact that the reviewer seems to believe that 'Star Trek Insurrection' is the best Star Trek film (don't get me wrong, i like Insurrection and think it's a good film, but it is nowhere near the best Star Trek film, as i'm sure everybody will agree!).

This one has taken me by surprise. Saw the ad the other night. Didn't know there was a movie in the offing.

So is that me not paying attention, it's going to be a stinker, or it's going to be the "surprise" hit of the summer having snuck up on us?

They've had years to work on it. It's written by two usually reliable X-Files writers. It doesn't have any pressure on it to carry on any existing storylines. I say it's gonna be awesome! :D
