Because it affects the nation as it does, it's an issue that is going to be politicized out the wazoo. Think about what you're saying for a second. Someone dies on such a natioanlly recognized scale, then yes, you want to know that your family member's death isn't going to be pushed aside and belittled because everything else takes precedence.

It's what Bush did to the families of the war. It's what Bush did for the families in Katrina. It's what Bush did for the families of 9/11.

It's just what you do as a leader. When your people suffer, you have to let them know you are there with them, even if you can't do anything for them.

Have you ever lead people before?

rescuing survivors of a hurricane caused by nature has everything to do with explosions a mile beneath the sea caused by a foreign oil company!

A President is not the leader of the nation. He is the current Commander of the Government. That's it.

If Obama was meeting with these families, you would be mocking him, saying how it's all for political photoshoots and shit. It's pathetic and ridiculous.

The President has no obligation to meet with those families. Him meeting with them and talking to them will do absolutely fucking nothing. Obama should be concerned about getting the troops out of the Middle East and about how not to keep spending trillions of dollars. He should NOT be concerned with the Oil Spill or meeting with families.
 
I have been watching the international news everyday before during and now after this oil spill. I have seen dozens of news clips of Obama doing just this just on BBC. Have you not been paying attention or something? Or do you simply think that his scores of speeches are a few too many? What number exactly would you prefer?

No, he has no obligation. But as the leader of the government, he's failed to address the concerns put on the government by the country his government takes care of.

And for what it's worth, the other article is more than just about the oil spill. Try reading it.
 
Rothbard and I don't always agree (in fact that may be an understatement) but I pretty much agree with him 100% on this.

I have a feeling that he is also right that you guys would be bitching no matter what Obama did over the spill.

Also at people comparing this to Katrina. What a load of bull shit.

President Barack Obama got aboard his helicopter, Marine One, on Sunday about 4 p.m. after getting a firsthand view of the response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

He promised "an all-hands on deck" response to a "massive and possibly unprecedented environmental disaster."

"I want to emphasize that from day one, we have prepared and planned for the worst while hoping for the best," the president said.

Obama spoke outside the U.S. Coast Guard station in Venice just miles from the approaching oil spill. As rain fell, he said, "I was told it was drizzling. Is this a Louisiana drizzle?"
