Oops, my bad, it was his second trip. Even then he promised an "all-hands on deck" response. What does that mean? Why did he promise that if he had no intention of giving it?
You know, I sit here and try to write what I think a good leader would do, but then I guess I don't really know what your expectations of the president are. Lew recently said that the president doesn't lead the nation, he merely leads the government. That statement really confused me. So perhaps I should ask you, what do you think the President is/does?
I'm not bitching no matter what he does. I just think Obama has painted himself into a corner on this one.
Unfortunately, he's likely going to take credit for whatever actions BP takes when they stop the leak. Afterall, why would he bring up the point about his daughter asking him "daddy did you plug the leak yet"?...he's going to try to say the plug was his success...if it works.
He's put himself in the middle of this, and in doing so has rendered himself responsible in some way.
What specifically was Bush expected to do in katrina? Go down there and drag the people out that didn't leave after a week of being told to get the fuck out?
