The Wizard Of Oz on Blu-Ray

Just to boost this thread back up. I love this movie and have just seen the blu-ray and it does look amazing especially on the colour scenes it's so good. Also to crush the myth that's been doing the rounRAB for many years of someone hanging themselves in one shot you can now clearly see that it's a bird. What a fantastic movie transfer I look forward to seeing more in the future done to perfection like this.

I can't wait for North by Northwest either. I'm going for the US BD as it has the original mono track which the UK BD apparently doesnt have
With Wizard of Oz the region isnt so important but my God, the "Sing Along" banner aross the top looks so cheap and nasty, why couldn't they make it green like the 4 DVD version or HarroRAB ( ) LE? :(

Lovefilm have confirmed they've dispatched the Wizard of Oz Blu Ray yesterday, hoping its the same version, and that theres not an original BluRay, and a super enhanced brand new one.... been looking forward to this transfer for a while

Point them in the direction of what Martin Scorsese has been saying lately about older films and blu ray. As far as I know MS knows a hell of a lot when it comes to film restoration and so on. And what MS says is the truth. :D

You should be able to pick up the R1 dvd of the film pretty cheap to tide you over.
I should not worry much as the extra scenes are nothing special and simply add a subplot that spoils the film.
I've watched the long version once but have always watched the cinema version since then.
Apparently these extra scenes were lifted from the cutting room floor to pad the movie out to fill an extended tv slot - they are not scenes included by the director.

However , the Directors Cut of Conquest is a revelation and its easy to see why the test screenings caused uproar and forced the studio to recut the film and add a new ending before general release .
You'll be pleased to know the UK Bluray carries both versions of that one .

I opted for the US disc of North By Northwest but what tempted me was the 48 page hardcover book packaging that is not included with the UK release.
The case is literally a book with a slot on the inside back cover where the disc sits , however this book is nothing like the scale of the missing Apes book but I was happy to pay
