The Witches to be re-made..

The classic book to film adaptation of Roahl (?) Dahl's The Witches which starred Angelica Huston and Rowan Atkinson is going to be re-made and is set to be released next year i believe..

who do you think should be cast and who should be the director?
 
Tim Burton would be interesting - but it would probably mean that Helena Bonham Carter would play the Grand High Witch and Johnny Depp would have to be in there somewhere.

I loved the original film as a kid. It used to terrify me. I don't know what a remake would be like but i guess the effects would be better.
 
I think Helena Bonham Carter would be AMAZING as the grand high witch. Although, she plays Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter, so she might not want to do another witch character.

I recently re-read the book - it's amazing. I really hope the heart of a mouse bit is used in the film, and the last shot being of the grandma and the mouse in their beRAB, side by side, 9 years later, dying at the same time. Tim would do that amazingly.
 
This is a really pointless remake because the first film was so great IMO. They should adapt another of Dahl's books like The BFG (which was done as an animation, but a live action version would be good). They could also do a movie about his life, incorporating the book 'Boy' which is kind of about his early days.
 
i was looking more up on the net about this and from what i can gather this re-make has been in talks since 2001 so whether it will actually appear any time soon or not who knows.. but i read that apprently Guillemero (?) Del Toro is associated with it and wanting to re-make it which i think should be good if Pan's Labyrinth's anything to go by!
 
i think a remake sounRAB like a good idea, just hope they stick with the original ending in the book instead of making it more glossy and mainstream friendly!although the first film version was ok, totally freaked me out!still does!
