Yeah, I was going to say, it just didn't seem right. The Playstation 3 has newer parts, which would cost more to make, and it didnt seem right that they only lost $40 more than MS.

They wouldnt be making any profit for atleast another year. Manufacturing costs dont drop that fast.

Im pretty sure they are still losing atleast $100 on each console.
 
I'm pretty sure it was more like a 130 dollar hit on the 360.


And even then, I was watching something on G4 and I saw that they've made little to no profit off the original xbox, the console market just isn't a great place right now. HD gaming is expensive, and IMO all the big money is going to the HDTV companies who are really profiting from these console being released. I wonder how many people have bought a big HDTV just because of thier 360 or PS3, I'd bet a LOT.
 
last christmas everyone on this board that got a 360 also bought a decent plasma or lcd tv. everyone. i dont remember seeing a 360 thread without pic of an hd set with it.

thats what sony and ms should be doing. selling lower to middle end hd sets with their consoles as low cost bundles. they would make a killing because it would be easier to buy a bundle specifecally tailored for console gaming
 
Microsoft have lost over $4 billion dollars on the Xbox, thats including all software sales. They lost a shitload.

I dont think they gained $4 billion back in 2006. Its ridiculous how much they pushed the Xbox and they will probably do the same with the 360 to compete with Sony.


No. Production costs to make a 360 even 1 year later is still very high.
