I dont particularly agree with any remake to be honest. Its becoming increasingly evident in Hollywood that orginal ideas are being passed over in favour of tv show spin oRAB and remakes of classic films. Studio execs want something they can be pretty sure will be a hit, and not take a chance on something new.
The Wicker Man has a huge following and to remake it is a very questionable move on their part. I dont see the point to be honest, and like you said yourself..all the original points in it that still apply to todays society. So why not just re release it? why spend millions doing a copy of the original?
