The "why hasn't this ended yet" Thread

Fairly Odd Parents. It's never seemed like a big show for Nickelodeon to me, yet it still pumps out new episodes and specials to appease its rabid fanbase.

Don't get me wrong. I admit that The Simpsons have gotten stale due to over alliance on one-sided issues and poor writing, but I respect the show for being on t.v. for so long.

The only shows I can think of that has worn out it's welcome was Harvey Birdman and Invader Zim.

Both of those shows have already ended. The series finale of Harvey Birdman aired on July 22, 2007, and the last new episode of Invader Zim aired on August 19, 2006.

I totally understand people who are annoyed by Scooby Doo. I believe it was in the late 90s when Scooby Doo exploded again (for reasons I don't know). Cartoon Network reran the show so much it was enough to make even the most hardcore fan sigh and change the channel. You could even find "Velma glasses" and other accessories for sale at places like Claire's. And they're still riding on that, I suppose, with their DTV series. I do like Scooby Doo, not a huge fan, but despite their "nothing specialness" they have a certain charm.

I personally think Pokemon should've ended after the second or third season. Ash will never become a "master" at this rate, and it's just recycling the same thing over and over.

Perhaps it's sour grapes for me, but...

Family Guy should have been nuked long ago. I've never found it funny... and seem to be just about the only person on Earth to think that. All it is the same three jokes:

A) Meg sucks.
B) Remember when I did something with someone somewhere?
C) Look, it's some obscure pop culture thing we'll copy as oppose to parody!

And yet, I've read it's one of, if not THE, best selling shows of all time. What do I miss? Although the point is moot now, I feel/felt Futurama deserved resurrection a lot more, and sooner, than this tripe.

The person who said KOTH should go said it better than me. I thought it was cancelled a long time ago until I stumbled across it last year.

"The Simpsons" had me for, like, years until I realized it was being made to be made. The final straw for me was a combination of that alligator episode and Homer literally dragging Lisa into Hell. I will confess the movie was great, though.

I liked FOP until Vicky's character was lost to make her psychotically evil and nothing else. I have no idea why, but I kinda liked her... Again, it feels made to be made.

B10: AF seems to have, like, gutted everything about the show. The fact one of my favorite characters (see av) is about to be dragged in is not all that welcome news.

I agree with you. I seriously doubt that becoming a Pokemon Master in the series is an easy task, not something that could accomplish within two or three seasons. I definitely know that it isn't like the games where you just capture all of the Pokemon. I've heard in some forums that defeating the Elite Four, including the champion, makes you a Pokemon Master, but that is also not anywhere near as easy it is in the games. Through the journey of training and battling with Pokemon, trainers earn the titles and fame that could lead them to being masters. Honestly, seeing Pokemon battles and how the trainers raise them sounds like a much better way for them to become Masters than just capturing hundreds of Pokemon that they may or may not use. Besides that, the show is there to promote the video games so that's a factor in why its still here too.
