I was given samples of Lexparo today from my doctor to help with some depression and anxiety issues I have been having. I am a little nervous about taking anything, but the doctor seemed confident this will help so my nerves have gone away a little.

I was looking to see if anyone on these boards has had experience with Lexapro that they are will to share with me. The side effects have me a little nervous, but all meds. have side effects.

When is the best time to take this medicine? I was thinking about taking it after dinner so that there is food on my stomach and is also close to bedtime incase there are some side effects.

I am going to be a in wedding this weekend and know that there will be some drinking. I am not a big drinker and usually only drink 1 or 2 at the most. Is that going to have an effect on the Lexapro or should I wait until after the wedding to start it?

Any information anyone can give me is appreciated. Thanks!

I have not taken Lexapro but have tried other meds in this class and I can't tolerate them but that's just me. Alot of people take it with success however I definitely would NOT drink any alcohol with this med - ever. Did you look up the side effects and drug info?
 
Hi kd86, first let me say this is my experience and everyone is different with medication. I couldnt take cymbalta or lyrica but do well with lexapro 20mg. But others do well with the others. My side effects are drowsiness,sweating, and blurred vision. You didnt say if you were on any other persriptions. If this is the only one you will know pretty fast what the side effects will be. But some might disapear after awhile,put Iam on 20 meds a day and someof them also cause blurred vision. And it does help me to calm down and not be so depressed.When I started it I would cry almost every day and feel sorry for myself I guess. But Im having much better days now. I think it might be wise to start out at night just in case it does make you drowsy.Of coarse we are suppose to take things at the same time every day but you could ajust it slowly. But only you can decide if you want to take it. Just do what your doing, keep digging for info. Good luck to you what ever you deside home sweet home
