So, I just recently had an echocardiogram done on orders of my primary care provider at the VA. It turns out that I could have what's called a mitral valve prolapse, which would explain several things that have gone unanswered since I have been a child. There's no guarantee that I have the condition. I do have to wait on the results (I should know by next Friday at the latest, if not before).
Some things that have been bugging me for years that every doctor has either brushed off or told me that I was fine:
Funny thing - that is every symptom that is listed for mitral valve prolapse.
I've had 3D wake me up telling me my heart was racing (and I wouldn't be having any dream that I could recall), it's started racing randomly while in the car or shopping.
The dizziness and lightheadedness - these have been constant. I've had very few fainting spells associated with the dizziness and lightheadedness, but it has been known to happen. Most recent "out cold" session was in my mom's driveway. I had chest pain, and my hearing went out. Next thing I know, I'm on the ground.
I've always had difficulty breathing. When this first got noticed, I got tested for asthma. That came up negative. So, when I developed anxiety, they just attributed it to that and said that I've had anxiety all these years.
Fatigue - I recently slept nearly twenty-four hours in a two day span, with no reason to be tired. I had slept the previous night before my 'hibernation' with no problems.
Chest Pain - since I was a kid, I would get shooting pains in my chest, and in my hands and arms. I've asked several doctors about it, but they would either do nothing about it, or they'd tell me I'm fine. Of course, this is the first time that I've EVER had an echocardiogram.
So... like I said, I don't know if that's actually what I have, but when every symptom lines up, and the doctor gives you a high percentage of what it is, then there's a big possibility of me having this.
Until I get the results, though, it's a waiting game.

- A racing or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, often when lying flat or during physical activity
- Fatigue
- Chest pain that's not caused by a heart attack or coronary artery disease
