The Virtues and Flaws of Anime You Enjoy or Dislike

It's not a matter of me trying to relate to the characters. It's more like I'd rather see people use their heaRAB. Like I said, back then this stuff would never even bother me, but coming across different series gave me an entirely different perspective on how I prefer characters. And that reminRAB me why I hated Vegeta during the Cell Saga. All that could've been avoided, but noooo, Vegeta and his thrill rides... Pisses me off.

I told you that you wouldn't want to know my reason lol. (Maybe I should've stated you'd be better off not knowing my reasoning )

While I like Yoruichi, she really hasn't done much as of late. She helped train Ichigo and then she was sidelined. Rukia's story is getting old, how many times are they going to use Kaien(sp?) ?

I'm just not sure it can be said that Bleach has a strong female cast when really they don't do that much. Tatsuki and the rest of the school girls haven't been seen in who knows how long.

That leaves...who? Soi Fon? The girl with attachment issues? Hinamori...who again has attachment issues.

I find Bleach pretty enjoyable, but it definitely has issues developing female characters. They are all pretty bland and useless in some regard.

If a Mod thinks this is offtopic, then I shall concede, but I feel it is relevant enough. After all, I think it only appropriate we discuss/challenge each others Pros/Cons.

The Law of Ueki
General Opinion: Pure, unadulterated shounen and not trying to be anything more or less. Lot of fun, but not enough for it to have obvious flaws

Pros:
*Ueki's powers (and more than half of the other powers in the show actually) are incredibly unique. Of all things in the world, the power to change trash into trees isn't exactly one you'd hear about anywhere. (my god. He doesn't even have a sword or anything!) It's just a lot of fun to see the unique ways Ueki beats his enemies and how it slowly stops being as easy as "take them out with one attack"
*The two main villains, Robert and Anon, are very, very evil.
*Romi Park=Win.
*I guess this may be just me but when a show, while weird, just tries to tell it's own story, I really like it. I mean, I'm sure that I've seen all the plot devices before but that's just it. It doesn't strive to be more than it neeRAB to be thus avoiding it crashing and burning.
*Conclusive ending which is rare. Wish I hadn't figured out there was a sequel manga though cause now I want to see that adapted.
*Again, great OP's and more than a few choice ED's.

Cons:
*Just because the show isn't trying to be anything more doesn't mean it couldn't try. Outside of the main five (and even Hideyoshi is shafted. I think they only introduced him because they needed five main characters) a lot of characters are shafted in the "development" stages. And I don't mean the stock "challenger of the week," I mean, the secondary characters in general.
*This is a crap dub. No one is trying, especially Ueki. While he is supposed to be laid back and relaxed, they took it too far and made him sound relaxed to the point where the VA isn't even trying. Even worse is that the subs are dubtitled.
*Remeraber how I said the villains were very evil? Well for one reason or another, they get kind of redeemable by the end. I'm not gonna say more than that but I think it's a bit of badass decay.
*To some, Ueki can be seen as a bit of a Gary Stu. He wins nearly all of his battles (and when he loses, it's only consistent to one person and Ueki never really gets a chance to beat him), his technique is perfect, he gets ten power ups for a certain reason and can survive stuff that's just....wrong. Yeah, I know this is a staple for shounen anime but it's not one of my favorites. (I'm not even going to bring up the time he goes into a Super Saiyan-like state)
*Mori is just annoying. She barely has a role there (again probably only necessary for five players) and we only got the slightest hint of UekiXMori at the end. I heard it's settled in Ueki:Plus though.

Might as well do an anime I dislike (or as you'll see, I've grown to dislike)

Bleach (my god, garfield! Blasphemy)
General Opinion: One of the very few anime in which I try to warn people to appreciate the finer things of what the story is rather than what it becomes.

Pros:

*Killer Music-Especially in the earlier episodes. I've really missed the creepy guitar track that would play whenever Ichigo and crew would be on the trail of a Hollow. The later arcs music is great too. If you've seen my posts on the [as] board, you'll note that I usually point out when ARRANCAR SPANISH BATTLE MUSIC time starts. And of course, "Nuraber One" is perhaps one of the greatest insert songs ever. I also think that this show has a great track record with OP songs as I can't think of any specific one that I dislike specifically. Not even Shoujo S. (even One Piece, I never really liked Crazy Rainbow Star)

*Ichigo. Particularly early Ichigo. Ichigo is....interesting. At least compared to the other two of the Big 3. He's not particularly an idiot but he makes more than a few brash decisions. He's not insanely reckless but that doesn't mean he hasn't done reckless things. He's not one to make long impassioned speeches about his frienRAB but, oh look, there he goes to save the captured princess of the arc! I'm somewhat intrigued by his nature. But for a protagonist, he's not a bad one.

*When the animation is good, it's really good.

*A lot of the substitute arc is really fun to watch and is always lots of fun for me to look back on.

Cons:

*If you notice, a lot of the pros were focusing on the earlier stuff of the series. That's because I feel at this point, I have gotten to the stage in which I don't care as much as I did at the beginning. And that's because Kubo's pacing sucks. It's gotten too long. In my personal opinion, mega-arcs only work if you're either going to spruce in a break every once in a while or keep it interesting so that we care. That's why people love the Chapter Black arc. In some respects, it may have gone a bit slower than necessary, but the underlying mystery and terror was almost a whole new level. That's why people love the Chuunin arc. For the time, the fights were intense and had a killer bad guy who seemed invincible along with some mysterious character revelations. What does Bleach give us? The new internet meme of "Are they still [strike]on Namek[/strike] at Hueco Mundo?"

*The shounen genre leaRAB to a lot of stereotypes. Women not as much in the limelight (unless it focuses on a girl) is one of the most common. The fact that both of Bleach's main arcs, two of it's movies, and a filler arc focus on a Save the Princess deal isn't really that much of a plus. (yeah, you could say Naruto's movies do it too, but it wasn't in a main arc was it? Heck, the only ones you could even really say that for were both guys ) Also, the fact that we barely see these females kicking butt as much as they did near the first few arcs isn't fun. How is it down there Rangiku and Hiyori? Has the blood completely left your bodies yet? It's been more than a few months in real time anyway
And I'm still pissed at the Harribel fight....

*This is a manga complaint but looking like black ink was just dumped on the page is really uninspiring. Luckily it's rare but not uncommon.

*I am really sick of these random, no-training-required, powerups. Sure, there are normal, training powerups but the ones that aren't tick me off. I know it's a staple but again, it's one of those I'm not a fan of. I mean, I already said with Law of Ueki that it wasn't even cool when Ueki did it so seeing it happen with Ichigo and more than a few other characters.

*Thanks to LoaRAB and LoaRAB of Characters syndrome, I hope your favorite character has a good spot in the polls....cause Kubo (and even the anime staff) tenRAB to forget about them for monthly perioRAB of time.

*Hey Studio Pierott! I don't care about your fanfic, psuedo-romantic ED songs, your subtle inserted conversations, and removing of a few key scenes, IchigoXRukia is still not canon!

Alright, here's something I've wanted to talk about for a long time.

Reign the Conqueror

General Opinion: The most guiltiest pleasure I'll ever have for an anime. I love it for all the wrong reasons.

Pros:
-It is it's own beast. You can criticize Reign for all it's eccentricities, but you can't fault that it's a very unique show in it's own right. It's not pandering to anybody, it's not a very lucrative property, and it's not very marketable. Yet at the very least it followed it's own path and probably didn't care what others think.
-Decent music.
-Imaginative, if a bit odd.
-Arabitious in its scope and follows through for most of it...
-...yet keeps it short enough so that our minRAB don't melt.
-The dub of the first four episodes by Jack Fletcher (Aeon Flux and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust). Seriously, one of the best dubs I've ever heard.

Cons:
-IT'S. EFFING. WEIRD.
-The character designs. It's like they're strung up jerky.
-The dress. Thongs? Why?
-Recycled animation. Can get rather annoying.
-Freaky at times. You're not sure what you're watching even though it's supposed to be about Alexander the Great.
-Not much in terms of dynamic characters.
-TOO arabitious to the point that the plot gets confusing, and too short to really put it into more detail.
-Probably would be more enjoyable if you're familiar with Ancient Greece.

Kino's Journey

General opinion: preferable to Mushi-shi (I kept dozing off during that one)

Strengths
* Interesting stories
* Decent art and character designs
* Laid back, calming, borderline hypnotic
* Back-and-forth dialogue between Kino and Hermes

Weaknesses
* Might be hard to want to keep watching if episode one put you to sleep

---------------

Magic Knight Rayearth

General opinion: pretty good show

Strengths
* AvoiRAB many magical girl/schoolgirl cliches
* Takes the defeat-the-bad-guy-save-the-princess trope and pulls a COMPLETE 180
* Season two expanRAB the universe already present in season one, and influences are evident

Weaknesses
* Season one has pacing problems - it goes by too fast
* Hikaru might be a little TOO perky

Whether I like it is not the issue. I specifically addressed things you did not understand or addressed as infuriating and offered the facts of the situation surrounding said elements. I feel my biggest fallacy was misperceiving the situation as one bred from a lack of understanding certain elements (the choices made on the part of certain characters).

Not that, again, I am telling you have absolutely are not allowed to like the choices made.

You shouldn't have brought them up and not expect it to breed conversation.

Anyway

One Piece

General opinion: Decent

Positives

Characters - The biggest draw for me is the characters. The entire roster of characters, outside of maybe Usopp and Chopper (I don't have an issue with them, I just don't like watching/reading their fights) are a treat to see. If I hated a character in this series it had to be that Foxy dude.

Action - Basing on the manga here. I really do enjoy reading the fights even though at times it can feel a bit crowded (with the double spreaRAB at times). The quirkiness, while it's grown onto me, I can't say that I really like seeing anything in motion because I don't like the artwork. Although I will admit Gear 2nd is nice to see in motion.

Negatives

Artwork - Like I said, I've gotten used to the quirky artwork, but I still don't really care for it at the same time.

The first of Ryo Mizuno's novels was adapted to make the OVA, but it was way to big to fit in only 13 episodes. Producers ended up streamlining as much of the first book as possible, and that meant some characters were used only when they had to be while other characters were cut out of the original OVA completely. The streamlined first novel made up the first eight episodes while the remaining five were spent trying to make a suitable conclusion. Hence the somewhat convenient and contrived feeling that came at the very end.

Its funny, the TV version that came along five years later is actually much more faithfully adapted from the source material but always ranks below the somewhat hacked up first OVA. In fact Orson and Shiris really shouldn't have even been in the OVA but producers liked the characters and wanted to put them in thinking there wouldn't be a continuation of the story later down the road. At the beginning of the TV series when they are reintroduced is when they were actually supposed to meet Parn and Deedlit for the first time. The continuity problems between the two used to bug the hell out of me until I found out why, now its all water under the bridge.

Excel Saga:

Pros: -The English dub is hilarious and the casting is pretty much perfect.
-Even though it's full of references only veterans would understand, it has enough broad humor, American references, and wordplay for newcomers to enjoy. (and indeed, I did back in 2003)
-Art is bright and colorful, character designs are attractive, and animation is generally good, with plenty of wacky movements, funny facial expressions, and poses.
-Music is varied and catchy.
-The twists on conventions, self-referential nature, and blatant disregard for continuity in the name of comedy.
-A large cast keeps things from getting too dull and provides multiple plot points per episode, unlike some of Nabeshin's other shows.
-Excel is surprisingly not annoying despite being a scatterbrain motormouth. Maybe it's her positive attitude.
-Great comic timing, for the most part.
-Animation USA. 'Nuff said.

Cons: -In only a 26 episode series, we got TWO clip shows. Were the Pedro flasrabroadacks really necessary?
-Has some fairly weak episodes when it comes to comedy, like "Increase Ratings Week", "Elegy to the Dogs", and the three Ropponmatsu outings were highly uneven.
-Speaking of which, I'm not a fan of the last arc (ep. 22-25), which got more serious and melodramatic. I felt the "all serious" episode could've been written in a tighter manner, because it ended up becoming serious itself, instead of mocking completely serious shows.
-As good as the dub is, occasionally it's hard to understand Excel because of how lightning fast Calvello (or later, Wolcott) talks.
-There are repetitive elements to the show: Koshi Rikdo approving of the episode theme; Excel being dumped down a oubliette by Il Palazzo; "Today's Experiment: FAILED".

Overall, though, it still remains one of my favorites.

Here are my pros and cons for all 3 seasons of Full Metal Panic! (I chose to do each one separately):

General opinion for series as a whole: I LOVE this series, and I don't usually care much for mecha anime, but I like how this series erabraces so many other elements besides just mecha (making it feel more like an anime with mecha nit it, rather than a straight-up mecha anime), and I really like the characters in this series. My only major gripe with it is that it only covers half of the full story-line, which is acceptable right now since the final novel still isn't out yet, which means that the story is not complete, but I somehow get the feeling that even after the final novel comes out, the anime will have lost too much popularity for any company to see it as profitable to make a final season of it to finish up the story-line for the anime adaptation.

Season 1 by Gonzo:

Pros-Very likeable cast of characters for the most part.Fantastic English dub.Nice and colorful art-design.The dialogue is pretty well-written, for the most part. The concept of Sousuke, a hardened military-buff who was trained to kill since his childhood, having to try and fit into the life of an ordinary school student in his assignment to protect Kaname undercover is absolutely brilliant, and its executed flawlessly, especially when aspects of his school life and "work" life begin to clash towarRAB the middle of the series.both elements of serious drama and light-hearted comedy are handled exceptionally well, and feel very blanced, with neither element overshadowing the other at any given time in the series.Gauron....Just, Gauron; He's the most bad-ass "villain that you love to hate" type of villain that I have ever seen out of any manga or anime, and he's the type of guy who the heroes....as well as his own allies need to fear, because he's the type of guy who doesn't let anyone screw around with him, yet he loves to screw around with others, and he doesn't even mind if that means going down himself, as he has absolutely no fear of death, whatsoever, making him comeo ff as even more sinister.Cons-Very stale and stiff looking animation, as is typical of most Gonzo series (although it definitely isn't bad, or at least its not bad compared to some of the worst animation that I have ever seen in any anime before). The music is OK, but its only OK, and in some cases the generic sound of it actually makes some good moments feel a bit more bland than they should. The plot itself is very heavy on predictable cliches, and while it has other elements to it which in themselves have the potential to be very interesting, they often get overshadowed by the cliche stuff, overall. The fights just don't feel as spectacular as they should.Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu?:

Pros-The comedy is actaully usually pretty funny, for the most part. The characters are all still really likeable. It explores Sousuke's school life in much more detail, and while its completely over-the-top in comparison to the rest of the series, it manages to be very entertaining and hilarious to watch. Some of the ridiculously uneasy situations that Sousuke finRAB himself in are just brilliant, and it really makes those episodes that much more fun to watch.Sousuke's military antics clashing with the students' regular school life, and preventing Kaname being able to enjoy a normal day at school is also fun to watch, too.The series is completely episodic, which means that the episodes can be watched in any order (although, as listed in the cons, this also slightly hurts it, in a different kind of way).Cons-Artwork takes a dip in quality. The animation is a little bit better, but only a little bit, which still isn't enough to stop it from feeling very stale. The music is still only OK, but it can still make certain moments feel more bland than they should. The fact that this seris only focuses on the comedy aspect of the series makes it harder to stay addicted to like with the 1st series, since you won't have anything ongoing that compels you to watch the next episode.Sometimes the comedy can be pretty "miss" when it just devolves into the same old routines that we've already seen in plenty of other episodes (i.e. Kaname constantly abusing Sousuke with all sorts of objects that she hits him with, due to his irresponsible military behavior interfering with her daily life).Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid:

Pros-Beautiful artwork, and a HUGE improvement in animation quality. All of the good guys are still likeable....for the most part (there are a few exceptions).Fantastic English dub.The short length of the series (13 episodes) is just perfect for it.The action scenes are brilliant, and look absolutely amazing, especially when compared to the unspectacular action scene of the 1st season. The plot actually has more going for it, and isn't riddled with cliches (although its still nothing truly amazing, either). In contrast to Fumoffu, this series almost completely focuses on Sousuke's military life, and really does a great job of exploring the deeper and darker parts of his life in the serious part of the story-line, and also does a great job of exposing the darker parts of the world of FMP.Sousuke is put in some truly intense situations, and is forced to make some very tough choices, which helps develop his character a lot, and for the better.Kaname actually gains some more respect for Sousuke, in that she gets a better understanding of why he acts teh way that he does, and she also starts realizing he "obvious" feelings towarRAB him.Cons-The couple of episodes where Sousuke falls under and "emo-ish" sort of depression are just plain boring to watch, and while it was completely necessary in order for him to continue developing as a character, it could have been handled MUCH better (my main problem with it is that it slowed down the other-wise brilliantly fast-pace of the series).Gates.....Like Garuon, he is a "love to hate villain," but he's also a "love to hate character" as well, which just means that I plain hate him, and his personality, altogether. The Kaname look-alike was a completely stupid and unecessary plot-device, it added absolutely nothing to the series (and no, it didn't really do a better job of developing Sousuke's character), and its overall just terrible writing, which makes me wonder why Shouji Gatoh even bothered to approve of it (since he did have a say in the scripting for the anime adaptation of this series). The somewhat anti-climactic ending was a bit disappointing. The end leaves off at a cliffhanger as Amalgam is still out there, yet Mithril has still found out almost nothing about them aside from their existence (and Kanme finRAB out that Leonard, Tessa's older brother, is associated with them), which really ticks me off, since I don't think that those scenes that cause the ending to be a cliffhanger should be in there if they weren't immediately planning on starting up another season, soon, as it really makes me want to see the rest of the story-line from the novels animated, badly, yet not even an announcement on the status of FMP getting a new anime has been made for years since the end of TSR, which just makes the ending of the anime feel like its teasing the viewers even more (which is why I just caved in and read through what's out of the entire main story-line in the English translated version of the novel series).Yes, I DO count that last bit as a true negative of the series; at least for myself, personally.

Oh, BTW, did I by any chance forget to mention that all 3 seasons for FMP have FANTASTIC English dubs!?!

Kanon

General opinion: BEST STUDENT COUNCIL MADE MORE SENSE THAN THIS SHOW!

Strengths
* Decent animation
* Ayu had some genuinely funny moments, and I did like her "uguu"

Weaknesses
* I know it was based off a dating sim, but some of the stories lacked plausibility
* I did NOT like Makoto--she was fine when she was playing pranks on Yuichi, but after a while she got on my nerves
* I've done cute anime in the past, but this was overdoing it!

Kanamemo:

My opinion: Best anime of 2009. Is it any wonder? I really wish a second season would happen.

Pros:

+ Colorful animation: Feel has made meh productions, but really stepped up the visuals on this one, almost a Shaft kind of show.

+ Characters are very memorable and fun: Try to even hate a character in thsi one, just try, you just won't (well, except for Haruka, who will only annoy some people)

+ Really, really good script for a comedy anime: This is one of the few shows that don't have the hit-or-miss problem.

+ Great voice acting: Aki Toyosaki already did great voicing Yui in K-On, and now voicing Kana here. Is it any wonder that she had a great 2009? Yui Horie is also a hoot voicing Haruka.

Cons:

+ Mood swings: While barely on the first 6 episodes, the later episodes are affected by this. For example:

Episode 9 has Kana attempting to lose weight...it's completely abandoned in the second half because of a friend of Mika's then tell her to take care of her dog, and Mika feels sad about because her parents wouldn't let her have one. Granted, ot's a way for Mika to get character development, but still, that's kinda bad if you forget the plot. Then there's the ending which is a Big Lipped Alligator Moment.

Episode 10 is about Yuuki being sad because Yume left. That story has a funny conclusion, but my issue is what happens in the last 5 minutes. It has Kana and Mika talking for a while, having juice, stare into the sunset (or was it sunrise?). This feels like one long deleted scene. It's like th episode ended early and another episode was about to begin.

Episode 11 felt a bit too serious at times in the second half of the episode, considered weird as it had one of the most...funniest moments of the show in the first half. It worked for episode 8, but only because most of the episode was meant to be dramatic.

Overall: Even with those 3 flawed episodes, this series is still enjoyable. It's funny, it has great characters, and a very underrated series. It's in Crunchyroll, so it's pretty easy to see it.

LolEden of the East/Gundam 00/Sora no Otoshimonowut?

I mean, I loved Kanamemo but best of 2009? Isn't that giving a little more praise than it's due?

I haven't seen Kanamemo, but perhaps you missed the part in Mesousa's post which said "my opinion," or at least that's what I'm guessing. Sorry, but I have a habit of pointing stuff like this out when someone clearly states hat liking something a lot is their own opinion, and someone thinks that they are giving it more praise than it deserves.

The reason it kind of ticks me off is because I get crap like that from some other people on certain other sites, which are much less keen on shounen-type series, when I say that Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the best anime ever (in MY opinion), and they give me all sorts of flak for even thinking that just because my thoughts don't match up with theirs.

Well, sorry if this post comes off to you as "WTF? That was....unecessary ....," but I always can't stop myself from responding to stuff like this when it bothers me even a little bit.

True. I'm sorry Meso. That was low for me. It was a surprising little piece, I just meant it as "Whoa! Best of 09? For Kanamemo? I wonder why that one of all the anime in 09?" I should have just said that instead of sounding like a fanboy.

I'll just end with this

Oh Meso. We both know that we'd need to see Kana at like 10 different angles with her moving out of black and white backgrounRAB for it to be something close to the minRABcreweyness of SHAFT.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

Pros:

-The absolutely incredible BGM that perfectly captures the show's themes. This has some of the grandest themes ever heard in Gundam, period, but also some of the most graceful themes too. The beautiful piano solos were something sorely missed during Gundam 00.
-The 1st ED theme. Just try to tell me that that when See-Saw kicks in at the end of the first episode, completely with the panned shot of a wrecked battlefield, you did not get chills. You did, admit it.
-The second half of the series takes a massive adrenaline shot and becomes mesmerizing.
-The concept of genetically superior humans (Coordinators) versus Naturals (normal humans) is a good one and more relevant than the old conflicts of 0079 that this series remakes.
-When stock footage is at a minimum, the fights are quite exciting.
-Character development. Unlike the sequel series, this series generally maintains a good sense of how the characters change and manages to make them all different people by the end of the series.
-The concept of best frienRAB on the opposite sides of the battlefield is an old trope, but this series executes it quite well. You definitely get the sense that Athrun and Kira care for each other but they both know their duties and they don't know how to accomplish them without risking killing the other.
-Episode 49. Good God, episode 49. That episode will leave you nurab, as it kills off half of the cast that you've gotten to know over the previous 48 episodes, good and bad. The fact it manages to evoke strong emotion when you see a certain character laugh as he pulls off one of the bravest sacrifices in Gundam history shows how well the series was executed character-wise.

Cons:
-Missed opportunities: SEED initially copied 0079 too closely, wasting valuable time on something people had seen before.
-Clip shows galore: Every time these happened, they killed the momentum, and ground the story to a halt.
-Stock footage: In lower-budget fights, these were seen all of the time, which becomes quite grating after the 50th time you've seen Buster shoot its rifle in the exact same way (sometimes you'll even see the same shot two or three times in the same episode).
-Bland character designs: Hisashi Hirai is a relic from the late 80's when he designed characters for little-known OVAs. Since those types of designs wouldn't work for SEED he had to modernize his style. The result is something completely forgettable, and many characters share the exact same face. The characters are not memorable because of Hirai, let's put it that way
-Rushed final episode: If there hadn't been any clip shows, this shouldn't have been an issue, but when SEED came to an end, there was very little closure.
-Iffy acting: Both the Japanese and English suffer from very false-sounding acting from many of the characters. Kira Yamato in particular doesn't sound appealing in either language (though Matt Hill, when he tempers his surfer-dude voice, becomes tolerable).

I've seen quite a bit of Anime and here's my opinion on some of them. Some Like Pokemon or DBZ I won't mention as they have been mentioned by numerous others:

First up, Azumanga Daioh:

Pros:
-Animation is good- The movments are quite fast and fluid for an Anime like this.
-The Characters are funny- Serieously. There wasn't a moment when I didn't laugh to myself.
-The Yukarimobile anyone?

Cons:
-Not for everyone- Like most Anime, this isn't one that everyone will like.
-Way too random, more random then Family Guy sometimes.
-Lack of men in the series. I know this series focuses around females, but still. Also Chyro's perents weren't featured at all. I would have at least expected a brief cameo at the most.

Next, Transformers Armada/Energon/Cybertron (aka the Unicron Trilogy):

Pros (Armada):
-Starscream is pretty cool.
-Unicron Makes a Return after G1's third season.
-Animation's pretty decent after Unicron shows up.
-Autobots and Decepticons together is an interesting twist in events.

Pros (Energon):
-The Cel animation has improved substantually
-Alpha Q's promised cool thing happened (the series ended)

Pros (Cybertron):
-Animation is better then the other two series in general.
-Ditto with voice acting and writing (for the most part)
-Humans that weren't half as annoying as the ones in the previous two series
-Crumplezone and Ransack, 'Nuff said

Cons (Armada):
-Animation's poor way too often, especially in the earlier episodes (it even makes Akom's G1 work look good)
-The annoying humans *Shudder*
-The writing and voicing sucked
-Way too Pokemonish in the beginning

Cons (Energon):
-Compared to Mainframe's work in Beast Wars/Machines, Gonzo's work in Cybertron or ILM and Digital Domain's work in the Live action films. Energon's CGI sucked hard. It looked worse then Sci-Fi (Sy-Fy as they're now called) channel's films.
-Suffered a similar fate like its Predicessor, only in reverse. (in which the biginning looked good then it went downhill after the first two episodes, if that)
-The overuse and uselessness of corabining and stock footage.
-Kicker was more annoying then the Armada kiRAB. And they were annoying.
-Writing and voicing sucked... worse.

Cons (Cybertron):
-Though the CG was a vast improvment over Energon, it didn't really mash well with the 2D (like most of Gonzo's shows such as Burst Angel or Dragonaught)
-Cyber Key gimmick was overused
-Thundercracker and Scatorshot were useless and the former was annoying (stupid Hick accents).
-Ditto with the Rapping Soundwave and Talking Jolt.

Bakugan:

Pros:
-Animation, considering this is TMS animating it, is decent. But its also cursed (see below in the cons section)
-The voice cast had some fairly recoginizable people in it.
-The Girls, with the exception of Julie, they're cute

Cons:
-The Writing, it came from the same two untalented hacks that wrote Transformers Armada.
-The Voice acting doesn't fare better. Though the blame can be put on the writers for that.
-The Plot, Like Armada is Pokemonish, only more so.
-The TMS Animation is cursed, sometimes it looks great (aka the TMS standard), other times it just looks Bad. With a capital 'B' and when it did look bad, it looked like TMS farmed it to either Sunwoo, Saerom or Akom.
-Julie was just as annoying as those dang Armada kiRAB. and it doesn't help that those two writers did both series.
-Character Designs looked amateurish and from a how to draw book, the story adaptions that Scholastic made are worse in terms of art.

Next item of Business is Revolutionary Girl Utena and its subsequent movie:

Pros:
-Well Animated, the movie moreso
-Quite the interesting plot the series has
-In the Movie, Anthy was cute looking...

Cons:
-...In the series, not so much.
-The character designs take getting used to.
-The movie just screams acid trip. It makes no sense whatsoever and the titlular character is turned into a car near the end. That is more madness then even HP Lovecraft could make. And he's made insane things.
-The end of the movie. I'm not giving it away.

El Cazador de la Bruja:

Pros:
-The Character Designs are quite interesting.
-Female Protagonists, we need some more of them.
-Animation's decent.
-Intriging plot.
-The two leaRAB are still in my mind. Their Designs and personalities were that good.
-Tacos.

Cons:
-Obiously there are people that would dislike it. But its a matter of personal opinion.
-Those two transvetites, they were durab additions.
-26 episodes isn't enough. I would've added at least 3-4 more episodes.
-Not enough character development for many characters.

And that's all for right now. I'll compile more as soon as I watch some more.
