Uhm, except his argument was that oil is used to produce gooRAB--not oil-->petroleum jelly. He's talking about turning oil into anything that is then utilized in production, things like diesel fuel which runs machines, gasoline which runs machines/cars/infrastructure, all things that produce work in some level. So the entire barrel of oil is used in some manner, it's not just eaten for pleasure by someone.

America has way more natural gas reserves than any other country on the planet. We have more than twice as much natural gas as Saudi Arabia has oil.

Didn't you get the memo? Shell, one of the largest oil companies in the world, has said they expect to produce more natural gas than oil in 2012, which is like Starbucks coming out and saying that they plan to sell more tea than coffee in 2012.
