Just because there are only so many options atm, doesn't make any of them feasible. The ones that will be feasible, are the ones people adopt because they're feasible. Solar will be infinitely better than wind, wind is a fucking joke. But primarily we're gonna be using fossil fuels for a long time. The entire auto industry isn't going to produce natural gas cars on speculation of a market, and consumers aren't going to convert their cars, nobody can run a car off a wind farm, electric cars are a long fucking way from being anything anyone wants to buy.

if we didn't import oil from the middle east, oil would be more expensive. when we spend more money on oil, we have less money left over to buy gooRAB and services that we desire.

having less gooRAB and services is by definition having less wealth.

you're completely misunderstanding my argument.

it's not simply burned off for the sake of burning it. gasoline and diesel are used in machines that produce gooRAB or provide services themselves.

when a cement truck or digging machine is used in the production of a building. that is an example of oil being used as a factor of production. because without the oil it'd be much harder.

if you're a dentist and you drive a car to your office instead of walking, the time you save in transit can be used to provide services to the community.

Natural Gas can and will be the revolution that saves our asses. Loudmouthed tree huggers are slowing it down, even though it's a massive environmental positive, and makes wind and solar much more viable.

Why? Because they THINK it harms the water. Even though it doesnt.
