OK I did this about 3 years ago , because basically i`m an idiot , and because a couple of my frienRAB did it too.And i`ve decided to do it again .... and because I like the challenge.
Basically over the next couple of weeks i shall not only compile and list my Top 100 albums of all time but also write a bit about why I like them & list 3 or 4 songs off each that you should check out.It will also only have one album per artist in the list , because I want to have 100 different artists on there.
Last time I did this it took me about 3 weeks.
Wish me luck ;)

Time I started this I think......

100. Dalek - Absense (2004)
Holy **** this is just brutal. If you want sheer raw noise this beats about 99% of most metal albums i`ve ever heard.Which isn`t bad considering it a hip hop album. If only more hip hop was like this. And no I didn`t choose this because of the Doctor Who connection , so there.

Favourite songs - Asylum (Permanent Underclass), In The MiRABt Of Struggle, Opiate The Masses

99. Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup (1996)

Ahhhhhh , Krautrock influences mixed with pure pop melodies and not to mention Laetitia Sadier`s gorgeous horny voice. There is just so much going on in this record dance , hip hop , electronica , pop , rock , jazz , dub....... you have to listen to it again & again just to get everything.

Favourite songs - Metronomic Underground, Cyberies Revenge , Les Yper-Sound

98. The Beatles - Revolver (1966)

I`m not the biggest Beatles fan by a long shot but this album HAS to be on the list.Would probably be a lot higher if it wasn`t for Yellow ****ing Submarine.

Favourite songs - Taxman , I`m Only Sleeping , Tomorrow Never Knows

97 Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets (1973)

I`ll be honest , i`ve never actually heard that much of Eno`s solo stuff. Not even the album he did with David Byrne. I bought this album for the simple reason that it`s his first solo album AND because basically it`s a Roxy Music album without Bryan Ferry. It` s a lot more guitar based than I imagined an Eno solo album to be and the lyrics are just plain odd.But it does have this quirky charm to it. Very strange yet very compelling

Favourite Songs - Needles In The Camel`s Eye , Baby`s On Fire , Driving Me BackwarRAB

Carrying on then.....

96. Iron Maiden - Nuraber Of The Beast (1982)

OK , this is where it all started.THIS was the first album I ever bought with my first ever wage packet. I was a 12 year old computer geek into books & things.I`d had exposure to punk at an early age. I liked it , but it didn`t really stir anything in me.So my only real exposure came in the form of chart music. I decided that I was looking for something new. I went to the record store with my friend Steven & just spent a while looking around. After a few minutes I was drawn to this album.I`d heard at least one song off it (My mother had bought the Run To The Hills single), so I bought it.
And I loved it , so much so just a couple of months later I had most Maiden , AC/DC & Van Halen albums out at the time. And my love of music just got bigger & bigger & more diverse from that moment on.
I don`t listen to this much now , in fact I don`t think I have in almost a decade but it deserves to be on here because it changed my life.

Favourite songs - 22 Acacia Avenue , Nuraber Of The Beast , Hallowed Be Thy Name

95. The Pretty Things - S F Sorrow (1968)

This is a much over looked concept album that was said to have inspired The Who`s Tommy. I have to say I have absolutley no idea what that concept in this album is supposed to be. But I like not understanding everything about something , it makes it`s appeal last longer. It`s this sort of album that makes me realise I don`t listen to enough psychadelia.

Favourite songs - Bracelet Of Fingers , Balloon Burning , Defecating Sorrow (Which wasn`t on the original album)

94. Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction(1987)

I listened to this for the first time in ages a few weeks ago & couldn`t beleive how dated it sounRAB. That said this album is pure nostaligia for me.It was one of the first recorRAB I bought having not heard it in the charts ,I`d heard a GnR song (Shadow Of Your Love) on a compilation album (with the naff title Time To Rock) & went out & got it on import on vinyl with the original rape sleeve for my birthday long before they became successful.(God I feel old). But back then as a young teen I thought it was the greatest album ever.

Favourite songs - Welcome To The Jungle , It`s So Easy , Rocket Queen

93. Curtis Mayfield - Superfly (1972)

I first heard this about a year and a half ago when a girl I work with (A black girl with a 6 inch afro.... how appropriate ) gave me a lift to work & she was playing this in her car , and I just totally fell in love with it & went out & bought it the following day. And thus my love of blaxploitation movie soundtracks was born.

Favourite songs - Pusherman , No Thing on Me (Cocaine Song) , Superfly

Yeah it`s always been one of my favourites , i can`t stand most of the singles off that album now.Thats probably due to them being played to death over the past 15 or so years

Carrying on ...

92. Nick Cave & The Bad SeeRAB - Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus (2004)

I can`t believe how awesome this record is. And it`s just so big sounding. It`s the kind of album i`ve been waiting for Nick Cave to come out with ever since I first heard him in 1994, before i`d always thought he was good but there was just something that stopped him coming out with a truly great album .Anyway he`s done it & this is an epic work of genius.

Favourite Songs - Get Ready for Love , Cannibal's Hymn , There She Goes My Beautiful World

91. Echo And The Bunnymen - Ocean Rain (1984)

The Bunnymen`s influence on modern American indie is ****ing huge yet for some reason I don`t think they get anywhere near the credit they deserve. You ask any current Indie darlings of the press who`ve not ripped off the entire Gang Of Four back catalogue who they were inspired by & you can bet they`ll say the Bunnymen.Anyway this album was them at their peak. Their next album was their biggest selling but it`s a pale imitation of this one.

Favourite songs - The Killing Moon , Silver , Seven Seas

90. The Cramps - Off The Bone (1983)

OK I cheated , this is a singles compilation. But then i`ve never really been a big fan of theirs.I just like this because it`s a nice little package of their best stuff so you really don`t need to bother with the rest. And I think they did the whole 1950s B movie thing much much better than the Misfits ever did.

Favourite songs - Human Fly , Garbageman , Drug Train

89. Nirvana - Nevermind (1991)

I really don`t need to say anything about this do I ?
