The Tudors Series 4

Why should they have? I know plenty of British people who know next to nothing about British history, nor American, so that's a rather odd stereotype to invoke. Incidently, 'The Tudors' is an Irish / Canadian production written by an English screen writer.

Why?

Both Showtime in the US, TVE in Spain and RTE in Ireland have already finished season 4.

With the amount of rubbish they show on BBC2 (Grandma's House?), surely they could squeeze it somewhere?

Even it was at 3am so we could Sky+ it?
 
Some of you have mentioned Cardinal Wolsey who built Hampton Court which was acquired by Henry VIII when Wolsey was desposed and condemned for treason.

Wolsey was one of the first to condemn heretics who along with Thomas More tortured heretics, with some of them being lowered into barrels of boiling oil.

Yet, Wolsey, who was supposed to be a pillar of the church and had assumed a lot of power, actually died in Leicester Cathedral from syphillus (apparantly, he had numerous mistresses because of his voracious sexual appetite) where he had stopped on his return jourmey back to London where he was due to be executed for treason.

People were very sick in those days cos of religion.
 
You have to remember that The Tudors isn't a documentary, it's a drama and most historical dramas are known to be inaccurate in their representations. Rome for example took quite a few liberties when it came to the timeline and characters but it was still a great series, no doubt The Borgias and Camelot will do the same as well.

I too admitedly found it quite silly at the beginning of Series 1, but after a few more episodes it grew on me. The characters are very well-written and acted, Mary Tudor's character is perhaps the best and most unbiased portrayal I have ever seen. Thomas Cromwell is subtly devious yet at the same time you can't help but like him. Anne Boleyn was fantastic, even Joss Stone (who I thought would be rubbish) impressed me as Anne of Cleves, although her accent did grate on me towarRAB the end. I understand it's not to everyone's taste though, but lets face it, nothing can ever be as bad as that Henry VIII drama starring Ray "not anuva bleedin' dawta!" Winstone from a couple of years ago. :D
 
I dont know why they did this, kind of shot themselves in the foot for any future continuations.



I think it is fine to watch as long as you do realise it isnt a factual program. just take it as abit of fun
 
That really made me laugh! :D Yes, that one was unwatchable. Whatever we might think about the real Henry, I can't believe for one minute that he was anything like that.

Some of the inaccuracies do grate on me (particularly the whole succession thing!), but I have liked some of the characterisations; in particular, Thomas Cromwell.

I'm not looking forward to the Ann Askew episode though. Might have to give that one a miss. :(
 
The Anne Askew episode was good...

I watched it all online when it was being shown in the US, it's probably the best series tied with series 2. The last episode of series 4 was especially good, make sure you watch that :D
 
I presume this is the end of it - I assume Henry dies despite only looking 30.

Let's been honest - its never been the same since Anne Boleyn and Katharine of Aragon were written out. They should bring them back for the final series.:D
 
Season 4 is not a patch on the previous 3 seasons, Johnathon Rhys Meyers has a really stong Irish accent half of the time as well - really strange.
 
i know you meant it as a joke - but it doesnt give anything away to say all Henry's wife's reappear in a dream sequence in the very last episode - so in some ways - you will get your wish :D
