The Tudors Series 4

I don't think it does start on the 6th August- ! I checked Radio Times website for that day and The Tudors is not scheduled to be shown at any time  .

They wouldn't be able to continue the series as merging Henry's two sisters would mean that Lady Jane Grey & Mary, Queen of Scots don't exist as they're each descended from a different sister

I have studied the Tudor era for years and to be quite honest even though I have watched some episodes of the previous series I have felt terribly embarrassed watching this drivel.

It is obviously made for the american market, and americans do not have the foggiest about history of the UK let alone their own country. So, they can take this drivel at face value.

A friend told me once that when he was visiting the Elizabeth 1st Exhibition at Greenwich a couple of years back, he met some americans who were flabbergasted at our richness of british history. They even claimed that they had no idea that Spain tried to invade England in 1588 and had never heard of the Armada.

Let the amercians enjoy this rubbish, whilst we just laugh at it, if you can be bothered to watch it that is.

I've been lurking for a while, but decided it's time to come clean!

I'm in Dublin and we've had and I've watched Series 4. I have to confess that's where I started - I never saw the 1st three series.

I found this comment interesting:

There were a few occasions during Series 4 when I wondered how much something had been fictionalised. So I went to my copy of David Starkey's book on Henry's queens and discovered that there was often (more than I expected) a fair grounding in fact.

We started "Pillars of the Earth" here last night. The 1st episode has been recorded and I expect to get to it tonight.

I have not seen series 4 so can't comment on how true to history they kept it -but try watching THe Tudors series 1 which is quite bad for changing facts ,inventing uncles, changing sisters ,changing marriges and saying Cardinal Wolsey committed suicide.

I think you are supposed to enjoy for what it is.

A glossy soap that happens to involve a real person and is very loosely based on his life.

Wolsey killing himself?

Far more enjoyable end to the rouge than what actually happened.

I do love the show it is my favorite programme on tv :) -there is some really fantastic British actors in it that I have never heard of hopefully we may see more of them in British programmes soon .

it makes me really mad that the bbc havent let any of the tudor fans know when it will be on here!! its been on in the us,canada, ireland and spain!!!! its not like the bbc cant afford to buy it! i mean look at the price of the tv licence!!! and all they put on is crap and repeats!!!!!

I admit the historical inaccuracy is very bad -but i still love it :).

There are some very good actors in it -Natalie Dormer,Sam Neil and James Frain to name a few .
