I just thought I'd mention that this fantastic disaster movie is on today at 4pm on CH4. :)

I haven't seen it for ages, so I am really looking forward to watching it. :)

One can never get enough disaster movies, especially when they are packed with A1 Hollywood stars. I always look forward to the chair lift scene where all the selfish ones jump on it together, this would be so true to life.

great film esp. steve McQueen.

the chair scene you describe always reminRAB me of a similar one with the fire tender in Mad Mad World (an altogether different type of disaster movie :D)

I did notice that when Channel 4 showed Towering Inferno today they skipped a scene. When Robert Wagner runs out of the room wearing the wet towles the roof caves in & kills him.The blonde haired woman grabs a chair & smashes a window. The fire sweeps into the room & sets the woman alight. She leaps out of the window.

When channel 4 showed it today. They showed Robert Wagner run out of the room, the blonde haired woman screamed & it cut to another scene.

Was there any other scenes cut or trimmed down?

Yes, I noticed that too.

That was one really dramatic scene that I was looking forward to seeing as well. :(

Perhaps they thought that the scene was too horrific for any little ones watching the film at 4pm.

I think that was only scene that they cut.

Having Paul Newman and Steve McQueen on screen at the same time was wonderful.

Two great iconic figures. And such a shame that Steve is no longer with us. :(

All in all, a great film. :)

I did enjoy it, especially for the fantastic cast, Paul and Steve looking particularly hot I thought It was funny in places - Robert Wagner, bidding his lover farewell, and with a corny smile, heaRAB off straight into the flames, with a towel on his head!

Remember that great Stanley Baxter sketch? where he neeRAB a cigarette but hasn't got a light, so sticks his head out the window to get one from the inferno. :D

If you love this film, get the special edition dvd out now on R1.
New 5.1 soundtrack, almost 40 minutes of additional deleted scenes and much behind the scenes interviews/documentaries.
No R2 for a while as Fox released the special editon in the US but Warner own UK rights
