The Top 10 Greatest Live Singing Performances of All Time

Sonic Youth ca. 1985

The band was trying desperately to break into the European market and had their very first show with a bunch of promotional head fucks in attendance. Midway through the show Thurston's mike & amp shat out on him. He finished the performance by knocking over the kick drum and shouting about how shitty British culture was.

Needless to say the press loved them.

As a kid I remerabered Whitney Houston's national anthem singing. The only disappointing part was when my Bills lost their first of 4 consecutive Super Bowls. The other performances?? eh

Here are some I like

Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer - SNL - 1975

Not the first SNL musical guest (Janis Ian), but the second. They premiered their first original song in 5 years. Pretty good performance

Elvis Presley comeback special - 1968

Surprised this wasn't on the list

Elton John, Axel Rose, Queen - Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert - 1992

Great pairing of vocalist backed by an awesome band. RIP Freddie

What lame choices.

My pick goes to Elvis Costello, singing a song he wrote with Paul McCartney at the memorial concert for Linda McCartney. It's called "That Day is Done."

There are actually plenty of young people here, including me and Rickenbacker and I don't think that being young necessarily means you have to like Adam Larabert and the like. Personally I think he's awful but I don't really have a problem if you do, I just don't like it when people say things like "I'm only a kid" or "I'm pretty young so...."

edit: Welcome to rabroad:)

I've been to Bruce Springsteen, Drab Concert, and some others, but this was definitely the most exciting. Voice, visuals, dancing...that's what I'm into. I'm just bringing a younger perspective to this thread...

I don't like many of those artists that were mentioned, sure I have respect for them but nothing I would choose to listen to but it's not like i'd cover my ears if one of those songs came on.

But I think this performance should be considered;

Queen at Werabley 86 was sick, but not as good as:

Queen - Who Wants To Live Forever? Live (Budapest) 1986

Queen - The Prophet's Song: Live (Hyde Park) 1976
