What has the US come to? We are given so much, yet we can't or won't be polite to one another? "Please" and Thank-You" are NOT just for kids anymore.

This rant stemmed from driving the other day. I noticed that no one gives anyone the "Thank-You" wave anymore. Please, tell me what have we reduced ourselves to? We are becoming more and more ungrateful for the little things. Everyone thinks that their lives matter above all others, assholes. But I digress, when I'm in my car I would like some acknowledgement that I did something for you. I'm not asking anyone to stop their car and give me a cookie or anything, I am asking for a simple "Thank-You" wave. And the sad thing is, it takes more effort to turn the dial on the radio than it does to simply raise your hand in the air.

So, what happened to being cordial? And someone keeps fucking up, but who? The government? No, too generic of an answer. Your parents? No. So, what happened? And who did it?

Cut off in traffic again? Where I come from, we use the "thank-you wave" a lot, however we tend to go the extra step and extend the middle finger as well.
 
people are polite in nashvile.. irritatingly so..

people think the english are over polite, that kind of went out with the 80's..

greed = ego = manners out the window..

they still have ego here in nashvile, but the sort of ego that worries what jesus thinks.

And that's just the thing. In Michigan everyone has a harsher sense of manners. In the south, people are still the "Southern Bells" and whatnot. Not saying that all the people in Michigan are impolite and lack all mannerisms, I'm just saying that there's a harsh edge on people here. Sadly enough.

I like cheese, seems to make sense to me.
 
When I took a trip to Niagra Falls (Canadian side) I noticed that when I was waiting at a cross-walk, everyone stopped for me, no light, stop sign, yield, ect. When I walked back across same thing. Maybe they're much more patient than we are? lol American drivers couldn't give two shits about who's waiting to cross.

I'm originally from El Paso, Texas, which is pretty much a border town between the U.S. and Mexico. From what I remember of Texas, the drivers were total dicks and would cut off pretty much anyone and everyone.

I live in V.A. now and the drivers here are the nicest ppl ever. Well except for the occasional pissy teenager but otherwise everyone here does what CVN70 said about Canadian drivers./
 
So, lets think about this: you live in the US, you've been connected to wtf.com for over a year (not saying it's a bad site), and you have the audacity to call ME an "asshat"?! How much shit have you preached about on this site? Ever take a blow at the people of America or the society? I'm sure that with the alloted time that you've been here, that you have. So go fuck a dog now, asshat.

Back to my point, America has gone down the drain. There is no respect, for anyone anymore. No one cares what class you are, how old you are, or what gender you are. Then you have the people that get offended by the slightest racist, derogative, or degrading comment. It's a fucking free for all. What happened to opening the door? (Which I do, might I add) And what about smiling at strangers on the street? No one cares anymore, which makes it funny that this site exists; people posting ideas that some people just don't give a fuck about.

First off, I don't know what number system you learned to count in, but he signed up on this site this month - November 2005. So I really don't know why you think he has been here "over a year." Moreover, how would connection to a website make someone an "asshat?" Are you calling yourself one as well in your rebuttal to his comment?

Secondly, flaming is reserved for Bait & Tackle forum only, so cut it out.

where im from,

it takes you 5 hours to go 2 miles on rush hour, nobody lets anyone else go, and there are 6 cars on a 2 lane street. along with pedestrians and cyclists who don't give a rats fuck about theirs or other's safety. highways are jammed all day, not enough signs, and there are no cops.
