The Toasty 50

i've only heard three of these....:)

i think i really need to give Myth Takes another try...i did not like it that much but i LOVE Louden Up Now and their new album is amazing....must have been in a mood

Not to get all technical on the guy who's getting all technical, but "genre mislabeling" would be, for example, calling a "song" a "symphony". Genre was originally used to differentiate between different types of MUSIC, not different types of song.

damn, your reply is neutral, I guess its a tie then...
you know, I don't think I ever listened to coheed and carabria, I have heard of them before though.

Wow this is really well written and some really nice choices so far. I've been meaning to check out Autechre actually and I can tell I'm going to find some other cool music from this seeing as I'm not too well versed in IDM. Looking forward to the next entry.

I have some pretty mixed up music there you know. I've got three electronic albums, three post rock albums, A pop album, A krautrock album and a dance-punk album there. It's not like I'm restricted to one genre.

also, I'm a she.

thank you.

I imagine also that almost everybody on rab has heard of NEU!.

I like Coheed and Carabria's first 3 albums. Pretty much got burned out on them though, but they are good.

And old prog vs. new prog is a senseless argument...they are both good! Both having their fair share of sucky banRAB/releases, of course.

Good thread off to a good start. I really like those Animal Collective, Autechre, Maserati, and Flying Lotus albums. Haven't heard of Kona Triangle but it seems like something I would like (even though I find Lone to be not very original, what I've heard of his is pretty run-of-the-mill for the genre). I've listened to that GY!BE album once but haven't gone back for a second listen. Actually I may have only played the first disc. I'm just rarely in the mood for something that slow.

Oh and regarding the Maserati comment, I've never thought of U2 while listening to it. Pink Floyd, yes. There is a lot of PF influence on this album.

Keep it up, looking forward to some good suggestions here.

I always thought of minimalism as a classical genre. But then there's terry riley and he made electronic-ish music. Electronic or classical? that is the question.

Trip-DnB. Trip Hop doesn't have to be slow. Pretty fluent DnB influence throughout. In the end tho who gives a damn.

Soundtracks are only not worth getting when there's 8-9 different artists and you only like one. But with ones like SC, + the Silent Hill games, it's well worth checking them out.
