There are some instances in animation where something (that appears ominous,threatening etc) is actually innocent and is exploited and corrupted by others.

Take Buu from Dragon Ball Z.He was meant to be a killer,but he was acutally innocent and playful.It's only through the deliberate or careless cruelty of others that he learns it himself...of course,I watched that series at 13 and I may be a little off.But I thought this could be a good discussion.

Well, Buu was pure evil to begin with, but absorbing the Grand Supreme Kai made him have a more innocent personality. Once that part of Buu was yanked out, he became evil again.

I’m not sure how many characters would meet such a classification, but perhaps Flippy from “Happy Tree Friends” could be mentioned in this thread. He’s actually a nice guy who loves penguins and unicorns, but he has an alternate personality that is triggered on occasion that causes him to go on a murderous rampage. In the TV Series, he tried to seek therapy in order to get his alternate personality under control, ultimately combating his alternate personality in a scene reminiscent of Fight Club, but he’s obviously never going to be cured. It may not be exactly the sort of thing that you created this thread to discuss, but Flippy is an innocent individual who is being exploited by a mental disorder; in his mind, the alternate personality really exists and he often fights with him in order to stay good, but I digress.

Well,as long as they are unaware of the vices in the world for a time (even if their made to be evil at first) and are corrupted later on then it still counts.Hopefully by then the character will have decided on a better course of life.

To me, the Destructocons in their first appearance in transformers:animated. Yeah, they went with Megatron but they really had no idea what they were getting into...

There's also the Iron Giant who started out bad but got his memories erased when he crashed to Earth,turned good after he met that boy who saved his life and then turned evil only through the deliberate assault of others.Of course in the end he made the right decision.
