Last night my sister was going through the Film listings at Cineworld and on the list there is 'John Carpenter's The Thing'.

Release date 15th Sept 2009, also stars Kurt Russell.

Can't seem to find anything else about it. Does anyone know why it is listed? Are they releasing a HD version, but 1st on the screens?

AFAIK, Cineworld are showing 3 or 4 classic Universal films. Scarface was last week, The Thing is next month and i think Gladiator is being shown too sometime.
 
A cinema presentation in 1982 would have offered better quality than todays HD.

There is a Bluray disc of it but a cinema screening will be better
