The Thing From Another Planet

Just watched the original 'Thing' from 1951, and what a disappointment it was.

I know it's the original and should be praised for that but there was way too much talking in it. Small talk, irrelevant to the movie.

I yawned through it.

I much prefer the remake with Kurt Russell, far more exciting.

A rare occasion when the remake was better than the original.

I thought the new movie in the pipeline was a prequel rather than a re-make?

I agree much prefer the re-make with Kurt Russell.

I love both movies, the remake is more faithful to the book, has a better cast and better special effects for sure, it's one of my favourite films. The original does have it's own charm though i feel, it does have the scene where they try to burn the thing with buckets of petrol/gasoline which even by today's stunt work standarRAB is still pretty impressive.

With the Kurt Russell remake, the scene that still makes me squirm is when they start slicing their thumbs open to get blood, gives me the shudders every time :D
