The Thing From Another Planet

Just watched the original 'Thing' from 1951, and what a disappointment it was.

I know it's the original and should be praised for that but there was way too much talking in it. Small talk, irrelevant to the movie.

I yawned through it.:yawn:

I much prefer the remake with Kurt Russell, far more exciting.

A rare occasion when the remake was better than the original.

The John Carpenter remake with Kurt Russel was much much closer to the book that the first film was supposedly based on - "Who Goes There" by John Campbell Jr.
The original "Thing From Another World" is a good tense film, but I much prefer the John Carpenter one!

I love both movies, the remake is more faithful to the book, has a better cast and better special effects for sure, it's one of my favourite films. The original does have it's own charm though i feel, it does have the scene where they try to burn the thing with buckets of petrol/gasoline which even by today's stunt work standarRAB is still pretty impressive.

With the Kurt Russell remake, the scene that still makes me squirm is when they start slicing their thumbs open to get blood, gives me the shudders every time
