The Taking Of Pelham 123

I saw this recently for the first time after seeing some clips on a countdown thing on five. It looked good so i went out and got it. And it is very good film i think. Great performances from Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw and Hector Elizondo. The moment when Shaw commits suicide totally took me by surprise, i was not expecting that at all, and the ending is classic. I wondered why it was necessary to have Balsam keep sneezing thruout the film but at the end it made sense, very neat. The moment when Shaw chooses the hapless conducter to be the first victim is very haunting i think. All in all an excellent movie. Who agrees?

I've not seen it for ages, but it is a good film.

Now get me the money, you have an hour. For every minute you are after that, a Movies poster dies :D

Yes it is, shown in a ridiculous full screen format from a horrid worn out print (yet again). The film was shot 2.35:1 widescreen.

I undoubtedly avoid watching classic movies broadcast on television like the plague. Five being amongst the worst offenders.

Good for you pjw1985, you made the right choice. ;)

I've said it before, I'll say it again;

Why should a film of this caliber be treated so poorly? It shouldn't, simple as that.

Absolute classic. Shaw is just superb as the no-nonsense villain. They're remaking it with Denzil Washington and Travolta. Is nothing sacred?

Totally agree on all counts, and the ace score by David Shire of course.
Though OP, I fear you may spoil the film for a few with your comments.:rolleyes:

They should never, ever remake this movie.

There was some terrible, straight-to-TV remake done a couple of years ago that sucked supremely!
